Doukyuusei (Classmates) Movie

I remember this BL manga since the art is kind of unique, but I never got into it since I found it boring. Well now there's a animated movie! And Kamiya Hiroshi voices the blonde musician so I kind of had to watch it.

So this is a love story between a honor student, and popular with girls and is also in a band guy. Two people who you wouldn't think would even talk to each other. The band guy, Kusakabe Hikaru catches the honor student, Sajou Rihito, practicing his singing for the music class performance. He offers to tutor him which blossoms to love. This is a BL story, but there aren't any sexual scenes.

To my surprise, the art quality of this movie is rather impressive. I'm use to BL animation to be bad since most are. I really did enjoy this movie despite the typical teen romance in the story. Also Kamiya's performance is quite enjoyable too. He made Kusakabe seem life like. Overall, the movie is pretty good so I definitely recommend it.

Tsumi no Shitone mo Nureru Yoru | 罪の褥も濡れる夜

I haven't listened to a BL drama CD in a long time. I came across a clip of this and it was well acted that it piqued my interest. Also I don't recall ever having heard Kamiya in a BL CD before so I thought I should hear at least one. So this is based of a BL novel, and there's a whole series called Seikanji-ke which is the family name of the uke (bottom) of this drama CD.

[BL] My Lover of Darkness - Vampire Darling

I've briefly wrote about this app game in another post, but since I've just finished it I would like to say some more about this game that surpassed my expectations. To me I find the whole vampire and werewolf to be too teenage girl material. So I thought this would be another lame love story, but its mostly just a general story than a love story.

The story is about a boy name Satsuki who is half human and half vampire. He is disliked and called a bastard by everyone in the vampire clan which Satsuki is under the protection of and Clay is the head vampire. Satsuki's parents have passed away so he is a very lonely boy, but he is not depressed or emo thankfully. Satsuki has been under the care of a werewolf family, and the werewolf boy Shirou is Satsuki's childhood friend. In this world vampires, humans, and werewolves do not get along well and the story is mainly about the conflict between humans and supernaturals. I actually found it entertaining and interesting. This is why I usually like BL just because they have better stories than when I play or read otome  or shoujo.

This game was a bit confusing since there are multiple routes. I don't exactly understand it. The three potential guys are Clay, Shirou, and Lau, but you can get points to a Vampire route and Human route as well which I think results in neutral endings. So throughout the game you get choices, and each choice will add 1, 3, or 5 points to whichever route your choice will give you. Lots of the choices I find quite difficult to figure out which route will give points to. You're main goal is to get as many Affection points to your desired route to get a good ending. Yes, there are 3 different endings to each guy a bad, normal, and good ending. You will need at least 80 points (I think) to not get the bad ending which is what I got on my first playthrough. Not sure if you can get enough for a good ending without items from the gacha.  I found a walkthrough so I will try to play it again and see a good ending as well as some CGs since I didn't unlock any.

Overall I recommend this game! The UI and app design isn't the highest quality and I have yet to see any events with extra scenarios. There's very little errors with translations though. Also the game is pretty PG rated.

[BL] Doushitemo Furetakunai

Also known as "Not Touching At All" a BL manga by Yoneda Kou. This is a story of Shima who starts his first day of work at his new job. He meets a very stinky man on the elevator and soon learns that he is his boss name Togawa. Compared to Shima who is quite and rather be by himself, Togawa is a sociable and crass guy who smokes and drinks often.

[BL] Heart no Kakurega

A BL manga by Natsume Isaku, and a cute one at that! It centers on Izumi who had to move to a run down tenement house complex after his apartment was robbed. Naturally he is very unhappy but will deal with it. He goes to greet the other residents who are Haruto the complex's manager, Momo and Jin who know each other for awhile though I'm not sure if I would call them friends, and the two girls living together are Ayano and Yui.

The residents are quite quirky and at time overly friendly with Izumi who they just met. Its quite different to what Izumi is use to especially since they all eat dinner together every night. So starts Izumi's life in the tenement complex. At first he found Haruto to be quite rude, but was told by Momo that Haruto has bad social skills. Izumi soon realize that Haruto is not at all a bad guy, and his impression of him changed when he saw him smile after agreeing to go to the aquarium together. Since then Izumi tries to get friendlier with him. I won't spoil the rest so please give this a read!

[BL] Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai

Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai is one of Yoneda Kou's latest work and its currently ongoing. Its recently been licensed in the US by Digital Manga Publishing so look out for it in the bookstores. I usually not that much into Yoneda's work, but this one is just .... so amazing! I just find the main character, Yashiro, very interesting.

Yashiro is a yakuza whom others describe as lewd and a big masochist. He's quite a troubled human being since he seems to never experience happiness in his rather messed up life. The story starts with the prequel of when Yashiro was in high school. He had perhaps not the healthiest sex life at that time, and always wore long sleeves even in the summer to hide the rope burns. That's when a fellow classmate has noticed them and given him bandages. Which starts their weird friendship since this friend, Kageyama, plans on being a doctor and also has a very odd fetish on scars and burns. The prequel got me sucked in.

[BL] Koitomo!?

Koitomo!? by Moegi Yuu is the continuation of the side pairing from Katekyo! of Kaede's cousin Haruka. Haruka is pinning after Tokiwa, Kaede's fellow researcher. This is one of those rare couples where the uke is the tallest one which makes it appealing to me.

The manga is short and sweet and personally I like it better than Katekyo. Despite being super quite and have one constant blank expression, Tokiwa is super cute. He tends to attract sparrows which are drawn super cute and round. They just sit on him and be cute! Since Tokiwa is quite inexperience with social situations most of the story is of him struggling to figure out his feelings with Haruka. The story is pretty simple and it melts my heart a bit! Highly recommend giving it a read!

Love Academy by Koyonplete

There are several versions of this game. Compare to their other game, PureLove, the quality overall is much better.

Love Academy is a otome game where you enter a music school and in the beginning you choose one of the guy's path you want to follow. Each scenario cost 10 koyon and each day you get 20 koyon so its not much. There is a tutorial to explain the game. There is a scenario collection page where it lists all the guys and the chapters most of which are locked or have a set koyon price. Even though you read it already you have to pay to reread. The page with a arrow between two people is to change the guy route which is free to do for the first 3 times. There are two image galleries one is special images you come across in the story and the other is a image that you collect pieces of after finishing a chapter.

Then the other Love Academy games are the bl version of the game. Its the story of Jun, a younger brother of one of the guys in the otome game. This is a set story of Jun and his love story with the school's doctor. Love Academy Yaoi is the same style as Love Academy and it even have the same prologue and it suddenly starts Jun's story. The other app is called Jun Love Academy which has Koyonplete's newest UI which is much more modern and minimalistic. The gameplay is much simpler though. Each day you the roulette game will start and give you jewels which is what you need to read the story. The story cost a small amount for each tap. There's also a chat ticker on the top which is annoying but you can disable it in the menu, but it doesn't save this so you need to do it every time you open the app. You get farther in the story in Love Academy Yaoi then in JUN. The story is exactly the same just the graphics are setup differently. JUN has 3D Prallax Display which makes the blurry background move as you tilt your device. Its not the best since the background will be shaking and it looks odd. I turn it off. Plus JUN tends to crash on me and L.A. Yaoi doesn't crash on my at all.

Both are ok games. The stories are not too interesting, but it hasn't lost my interest. I'd say it deserves a try at least. Its a free game!

BL App Games

My Lover of Darkness - Vampire Darling by Arithmetic
This is a free game like Arithmetic's otome game except obviously the main character is a guy. The main character is half human and half vampire. Not only are there vampires, but your childhood friend is a werewolf whose family has taken you in when your parents died. Another guy you can get is a human Hunter. The story and art is nice but you only to 5 scenarios to read a day and they are super short! When you are a certain scene with one of the guys sometimes a notice will come up to say there's a special scenario if you buy the key. You need real money to buy them which I don't really think its worth it. There are gacha games to get items to dress your character up and decorate your home with to increase affections.

Ore Pri ~ Cross by Sunsoft
This game doesn't have English translation so its all in Japanese. You will need a intermediate level of Japanese understanding to play this game. Its similar to Arithmetic's format of gaming. There are more than one version of this game and Cross is the newest one with new characters and scenarios. The unique thing about this game is that you can choose to be the uke or seme! You enter this school and you end up being the school's Princess which reminds me of "Princess Princess." Compare to the many other games the scenes are much longer. The art is nice and the story has some humor. There are no sounds or music. There is mini games and you can dress up the character. If you know Japanese, its worth trying this game out.

[BL] Katekyo! (Private Teacher)

Katekyo or Private Teacher is a yaoi manga by Moegi Yuu. The main character is Rintarou who is in love with his tutor Kaede. Things get a little steamy rather quick, haha! Rintarou is alittle absent-minded and frankly easy to read and tease which Kaede takes advantage of. The story is light and humorous. There's nothing really special about the story other than being quite cute and generally happy. Its really quite a fun read which balances out with the intimate scenes which happens quite a bit.

The art style is quite nice, though at times the anatomy can be a bit wonky but overall its pretty well drawn. The side characters are quite likeable as well. There is a side love story with a relative of Kaede too. Overall, if you like a easy read with happy endings I'd recommend this!

[BL] Koi o Suru nara Kono Machi de

This is a boys love manga by Abe Akane. Its not very long and its quite funny. The story is about a host club being built in a small town of elderly people. The main character, Munematsu, who works at the host club does his job to charm the elderly to dispel their dislike for their establishment. This is where he meets Tooru who some elderly women has asked to talk to Munematsu about their dislike for opening a host club in their neighborhood. Even though Tooru is a plain guy, Munematsu ends up falling for him but Tooru ends up to surprise him in so many ways.

Tooru pretty much steals the show. His peculiarities and awkwardness is pretty entertaining. The love story is simple and mediocre. If you're looking for a humor I recommend this!

[BL] Castle Mango

I've recently got into reading BL (boys love) manga so I wanted to write up my thoughts on the ones I've read. Just finished one that left a good impression on me so I'd highly recommend this!

First off I find the title is be quite silly and cute at the same time. At first at thought it be a cute story, but then when I read the summary that the main character lives at the love hotel, and the love interest is a AV director it totally turned my impression from thinking it be cute to it probably being lewd. But as I kept reading it actually turns out to be quite cute in some parts, and story is quite gripping. I couldn't stop reading.

The main character is a high school student Yorozu Shirosaki who has a mother and a little brother. They live in a love hotel that was inherited by his late father. His father cherished the hotel which also inspired Yorozu to love it as well. The retro themed rooms caught the attention of a AV crew, and scheduled a room to film. This is where Yorozu meets the director, Togame, who was not very friendly so Yorozu disliked him immediately. The AV crew returned to film at their hotel again and Yorozu finds Togame being friendly with his little brother. He finds this very concerning since he is told that Togame is gay. Already their relationship starts off quite badly, but the struggle with their feelings and other issues that arises makes me really feel for them. Especially for Yorozu. I actually almost teared up which never happens when I read manga of any genre.

What I like about this is that despite the love hotel and the AV it doesn't not come across as a lewd or erotic. Togame is an adult and he acknowledges that Yorozu is under 18 so he is an amazing man for not wanting to go further with Yorozu till he's legal. Also the art style is quite nice and even beautiful in some panels.

Overall, I highly recommend it!
