HOKA Bondi 7

I’ve heard about how good Hoka shoes are but they are rather expensive so I never took the plunge to buy them until now. My job had me in a position where I have to stand all day full time when I’m usually sitting all day. So after the first couple of painful day of standing I bite the price bullet and bought the Bondi 7.

I even had expedited shipping and for some reason it still took a week to get to me. It was free shipping so maybe the “expedite” was a lie? I don’t know but it was painful waiting for it to arrive. But once it got to me, thankfully right before I had to go to work, I tried them on and they were comfortable enough that it didn’t need to be broken in! I did get a wide since my feet are a bit on the wide side and would like the room when I have thicker socks during the winter.

These helped so much! It may not make standing all day pain free, but it lessened so much pain and soreness that it’s tolerable. After getting use to standing sometimes it’s pain free.

The soles on these are quite thick and it kinda feels like I’m stepping on a mattress at first. It did put some pressure on my knees due to how the soles are designed but after getting use to it it feels like walking like a normal shoe would feel. To me at least. Their page has said it’s has feet health benefits and someone with knee problems says these have been helped with it so I feel these shoes are legit. I don’t have knee problems and I’ve heard standing all day isn’t healthy for you. I feel wearing these would help me health wise from all this standing. I don’t want to develop health problems because of my work! So I feel paying $160 for these shoes is worth it. I’ll definitely be bringing these for travel! And I do hope to maybe get a 2nd pair.

Sadly Hoka shoes aren’t in big box stores so these isn’t one near me for me to try other shoes. The only time I've seen these on sale was during the holiday season on Black Friday so I suggest waiting till then if you're interested. Its not a huge sale so I wouldn't expect these to be 50% off.

After wearing these for a year now, I do enjoy it as my everyday shoe. It hard to go back to my other shoes since Hoka just makes them feel uncomfortable. So far it has held up pretty well! I would definitely like to get another pair.

Vessi and Rothy's shoes

I was looking for shoes to wear for my future trip. I really need one that is lightweight, comfortable enough to support my heel, and waterproof in case it rains. Two brands came up on my Instagram feed and Google search which are Vessi and Rothy's. While these shoes are a lot more expensive than I wanted to pay, but I ended up trying them out.

First I tried Rothy's which I heard from a travel blog post. The post talked about the flats, but I was more interested in the sneakers they had. What I like about these sneakers is that classic vans like look and that they're slip ons. Whats even really neat about their shoes is that its made from plastic bottles. Their sizes go as small as size 5 which I appreciate as someone with small feet. The reviews mention sizing up so I ended up buying a 6.5 to try. Their shoes cost $125 and with the first order discount I was charged $105. Shipping was free and quick. The box is the shoe box itself. There's a pull tab on the box that makes it easy to open and there's a strip to resealed the box for returns. The box was made sturdy and didn't arrive with any damages. I tried on the shoes and they were too long. The width felt fine but the length was way too long and my heels just slip out while walking. Thankfully returns and exchanges are free so I was able to make the exchange request easily. I decided to go for size 5.5. When it arrived, still some issues. The size was now too narrow. My right foot is a bit bigger and it hurt to wear the shoe. Length was fine but the width was just too narrow so it felt quite tight. Despite that my heels still slip out while walking. I feel if the opening of the shoe was more enclosed it wouldn't be much of a problem. The material of the shoe is a bit stiff and since the site says they won't give over time I shouldn't expect them to change. Comfort of them wasn't the best. For the price I was expecting something better. Sadly I had to return the shoes as I don't expect changing size would fix the issues I had with them. I was able to get my refund quickly.

Next I tried Vessi. Their ad came on my Instagram feed and thought they looked interesting because its waterproof and for any weather. The only stlye they have in stock now is the Cityscape and these are a bit more expensive than Rothy's. Lowest size they have for women is 6 which is fine. They cost $129 and with the first order discount I was charged $116. Shipping took a little longer than Rothy's and it came in a poly mailer which got damage and the shoe box inside took a beating during shipment. The shoes weren't damaged at least. The cityscape shoe isn't as cute as Rothy's, but they do have a interesting look to them. They're unique looking without standing out too much which I like. The fit feels nice! Its definitely wider and the knit material is quite flexible and soft like a canvas shoe but actually waterproof. It is a bit tough to get my socked feet in the opening over my heels. It is like a sock like opening with not a lot of give. Hopefully over time it would loosen up a bit. The laces I'm not sure actually function other than decor. The shoe itself is pretty lightweight which I am happy about. The insole is just a somewhat thin piece of foam thing. I do plan on using another comfort insole, and I can put it on top of the existing insole and have my feet fit. However the top part of the opening elastic digs into my ankle since my heel will be elevated. While its not perfect I do intend to keep it as I don't have a waterproof lightweight shoe.

UPDATE: I wanted to update on the Vessi shoes as I used them on my trip which rained quite hard one day. These shoes don't give me much support for so much walking, but I was the only one who had dry feet and socks.
