Glamglow Youthmud + Supermud

This has been talked and featured about for awhile, and glad to see that Sephora has little jars of it available to purchase instead of the full size that's about $70 which is very pricey. These masks main selling point is their "ground breaking" technology to deliver top performing skin benefits like antioxidants into your skin. I thought they're pushing it a bit, and find their choice in words a bit exaggerating. Nonetheless I did end up getting one of the jars and luckily a single use sample of Supermud.

The Youthmud is an exfoliator that will get your skin brighter, smoother, and softer after use. The mask is quite literally mud. Its just like mud you would see or step on outside on a rainy day. The color is grey-ish green like an alien. It also has hards bits like raw sugar. There's also dark bits that are probably dried up clay. I don't think its suppose to be dried up, but maybe I got an old bottle. Though I did having it sitting around for a couple months. Its so small its easy for me to forget about it.

You apply on a thin layer and leave it for 10 minutes. It will dry up just like the Mint Julep mask you find at the drugstore. At first it does sting or burn a bit just like the reviews has said. It doesn't hurt though since its mild, but it may depend on your skin. During winter my skin is dry so I do have a bit of flakey dry skin so it didn't burn didn't hurt. The burn does die down after a few minutes or so. After it dries, you remove by scrubbing in circular motions with water. I really like that part of this mask because its like a 2-in-1 mask and scrub product.

I have to say that this scrub did make my skin feel smoother than my regular scrubs did, though as for brightness I didn't see a difference since I regularly exfoliate. It did a good job of getting rid of all the flakey dead skin. No dramatic difference immediately, but the morning after I did see that my skin seem healthier. All the dead skin removed did make my skin less dull. It helped remove the majority of my dry patches so my makeup looks smooth even without primer. During the summer it kind of seemed like it dried up my skin a bit. The scrub part will obviously make my face look less dull, but other than that I do not really see a huge difference especially in my pores which is the main reason I wanted to get try this. It did help minimize it, but it didn't last long. It didn't seem like it will help my large pore problem in the long run.

The Supermud mask sample had only enough for most of my face to cover. So the sample is rather small. The mud looks and feels just like the Youthmud. Its smells bad though but it might be due to that this sample is a bit old since I've forgotten about it. You put on a thin layer and it dries up in 10 minutes. Washing it off was pretty easy as well. Though I don't really any different to my skin after it. So this sample didn't impress me at all. It also left my skin feeling dry afterwards.

Overall, I feel like this clay mask performs like any other clay mask. Perhaps I put a high expectation on this mask, but I didn't see the kind of results I wanted for the price. I didn't want to pay the high price for this mask to try it out longer either. Not to say that this is a bad mask, its just expensive in my opinion. If you can afford it then I would recommend it. Personally I find it a bit overrated though if I did get a old bottle it might be the problem.

[Sample Impression] Origins GinZing

This is a sample review of Origin's GinZing Refreshing Face Mask. Its advertised to give your tired looking skin more radiance. Instructions says to apply on the skin and leave it in for 10 minutes then tissue off. I was able to get 3 masks out of the sample. So far I didn't see any improvements to my skin.

The product is a clear gel that has a slight scent of ginseng and sweetness. Its really light so I hardly smell anything from this product. I wouldn't say this was refreshing either. So I am not that impressed with this product. I wouldn't buy it.

[Sample Impression] Bliss Multi-'face'-eted All-in-one Anti-aging Clay Mask

Bliss Multi-'face'-eted mask is advertised to even skin tone and texture, reduce the look of pores and wrinkles, brightens and moisturizes to reduce signs of aging.

The product is dark grey in color, and its dry-ish clay texture. It feels sandy on the skin when you apply since it seems to dry pretty fast. You apply a thin layer onto clean skin, and leave it on for 5-7 minutes. Then remove with a wet washcloth. Do use a washcloth because this sandy stuff sticks to your skin like glue and glitter. Its hard for me to remove this stuff, and I have to keep checking for anymore light greyed areas. Even if I was careful, it somehow always ends up on my eye area when I try to clean it off. You can imagine how bothersome it can be to have this stuff in that area. Even a shower couldn't take everything off. There's always some grey-ness on my skin afterwards that stays there for a day or two. Its especially noticeable in the inner eye area. It has a minty smell that is really similar to toothpaste smell. It has 10% glycolic acid so its suppose to take away dead skin which is noticeable. My skin does look healthier. The sandiness and dryness of this mask does perform like sandpaper on your face.

Because of the trouble I had with taking this product off, I didn't want to continue to use this sample. I've tried it twice and its just a pain so I threw it away. Would not recommend it!

Michael Todd Pearl and Silk Facial Mask

Got the full size of this product free from my order so I'm going to give my take on it. It is a mask that gently exfoliates and hydrates using herbal pearl and silk amino acids. It soothing and reduces inflammation, improves elasticity, and unclogs pores.

The product is a clear gel with light powder like scent. You apply an even layer and leave it for 10 to 15 minutes. It is a thin mask and does dry up, but its doesn't dry the skin out. When time is up you rinse it off. This mask isn't bad and it is gentle so nothing dramatic in terms of results. It is comforting, but nothing about it has really impressed me enough to want to purchase it. It is definitely better for those who have mature sensitive skin since its so gentle.

DIY Almond and Honey mask

I saw this mask from BubzBeauty and thought I should try it because it didn't include perishable ingredients. So I will tell you my impression of it.

Making it is really simple just mix equal amounts of almond meal/flour with honey and a bit of water. Apply to your face and have it on for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes you massage the mask on your face to exfoliate your skin and rinse. I used this mask a few times and had great results. Except sometimes I do break out from it. But I do like the results since its just as good as any other skincare brand masks. I always have honey and I got a big bag of almond flour that I got from nuts.com.

Definitely recommend giving this DIY mask a try!

Kuan Yuan Lian Natural Care Whitening Mask

Been having issues with my skin so luckily I found these whitening masks on sale and bought them. Its advertised to help with dull skin and get even skin tone, brighter skin, and moist skin. This product is from Taiwan which I have to admit I have not tried before besides Naruko.

So far I find the mask not too bad. Its soothing and has a nice scent which seems its a fragrance but its not listed. The ingredients list is quite small: Aqua, camellia japonica, white tea, alpha-arbutin, cucumber extract, sodium hyaluronate, paeonia lactiflora, 1.3 butylene glycol, methyl gluceth-10, matricaria extract, dipotassium glycyrrhizinate, allantoin, sodium lactate, pentylene glycol. Looking these ingredients up they are all have low hazards so its pretty safe to use. There's lots of plant extracts as well. Kind of surprised that it doesn't have a herby smell at all.

Despite the list, I did get some irritation on my skin. It appears a couple hours after I used a mask for about 30 minutes. First time it was a 2 inch area between my nose and cheek around near my under eye. Second was on my nose bridge where my glasses sit which is annoying since my glasses make it really itchy. The irritation would go away after a couple days with anti histamine cream. So the next time I used it I only had it on for 15 minutes and soon could feel the same area as before get irritated so I wiped that area clean of the remaining mask serum and put on anti histamine cream and moisturizer. At first I though that area of my face is just sensitive to it but after further use other parts of my face also got irritated. I never got irritate from a sheet mask before.

I will continue to use the product but will have to put it on for 15 minutes or less. I will not repurchase it. My skin did even out and appear moisturized and lightened my acne scars very slightly, but the irritation is not worth it. I will have to find something else that isn't irritating.

Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque

I have been purchasing and using this mask for years. Its super affordable and lasts me for quite a bit. People say good things about it so its definitely worth a try.

I don't use it often since its drying. I use it when my skin needs some extra help with oiliness, acne, and blackheads. Its great during the summer when my skin can get oily which is gross. This mask is like a clay mask. Its green and you apply on a clean face then wait about 20-30 minutes for it to dry. As it dries it will tighten your skin and practically dry you up. But it feels good for those with acne and oily skin. Its not a miracle product, and I don't see much of difference afterwards.

Overall, its not bad. Here's the ingredients list: Water, Kaolin, Bentonite, Glycerin, Zinc Oxide, Propylene Glycol, Sulfur, Chromium Oxide Greens, Fragrance, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben.

Sample Impression: Chantecaille Detox Clay Mask

This is a nice mask. Its a purifying and detoxifying mask with Kaolin clay and rosemary that sbsorb oil and tighten pores. It also has honey, Chamomile, sweet orange, roses, and other natural ingredients. Its a very rejuvenating mask that you put on for 10 minutes. The mask has a very dark gray color and its soft and velvety like feel. Plus it smells really nice and natural. I would love to purchase the full product but its like $78.

Garnier The Ultimate Cleanser 3 Way Clean

This is a drugstore cleanser I picked up since I was curious as how well this works. I think its a pretty nifty idea. It always seems like the guys always get products that can be used for anything. I mean they get products they can use as shampoo, body wash, and facial cleanser in one!

This product has a creamy consistency and it almost reminds me of porridge. Its white with little blue beads. It works nice as a daily cleanser, but I use it on my clarsonic mia and does a great job as cleaning out my skin. The smell is nice and mild but I tend to not smell anything. Its also gentle so it hasn't irritated my skin at all. The beads are rough but its not harsh even with a clarisonic. This product is alittle drying so it may not be great for those with dry skin. The mask isn't too bad either, and it does an OK job as a alternative clay mask.

Overall, this product does the job its meant for, but its nothing special or mindblowing. So I do recommend people to try it out. Definitely will save you money! You might have to buy more than one as its not a large tube of it so we end up running out of it pretty fast compare to other cleansers we use.

My Beauty Diary Black Pearl and Royal Jelly Masks

I've been hearing about these Taiwanese cotton masks called My Beauty Diary and that they're popular and great. So I've decided to try a pack because the price is not too bad. One pack is about $15 and it included 10 masks. Cotton masks are not really heard of in the western world as far as I know of. They're are just a sheet of thin cotton saturated with extracts. There are holes for your eyes and mouth you can just unfold them and place on them your face like a regular mask. They're popular in Asia because they're hydrating which is very important to having nice skin.

There is English on the box so you can read that you wear one for 20-30 minutes for 2-3 times a week. I've only used them once a week or so. So far they're really soothing and hydrating but nothing all that spectacular or amazing. The masks fit my face well, it is short on my nose and a little too low for my mouth but aligning them wasn't a problem. These masks can get cold so I think they be great for warm weather, but since it winter now it almost makes my face feel numb from the cold. At first I wore them till they dried out which took at least an hour since it holds alot of liquid. Then I tried with the suggested time and just saved it use again since its still wet. I haven't seen any difference in the two methods I've used. I did them at night and put on my night skincare on top before bed. In the morning I noticed that my pores are bigger and clogged than usual so I'm trying to use them in the morning or without putting my night time skincare on and see if it improves. I have naturally large pores on the majority of my face so I try my best to keep them at the minimum size.

So I've been following the directions and just wear them for 20-30 and it really works better than wearing it longer like I have. My pores don't get clogged and overall my skin looks better if I follow the directions than try to get the most of it. So yeah, lesson learn FOLLOW DIRECTIONS, haha.

Overall, I find these very hydrating and the scent is really nice and light. This company has a very large selecting of these masks so I suggest trying them out since the price isn't too bad. But don't expect any miracles to happen unless you wear them all the time. But they do make my skin look healthier so its not like it doesn't do anything

Face Q Masks - Luffa + Adlay and Ocean + Aloe

I received samples of these masks from an order so I will write my impressions of them. Face Q is another brand off of the company who makes My Beauty Diary masks. So the mask design is very much similar to My Beauty Diary masks. There's not many masks from Face Q compare to MBD and they're all not that much different from each other. The mask sheets are made of 100% wood pulp for better absorption of the serum. These masks are mainly for hydration and elasticity to the skin.

What I like about these masks the most is that the masks fit my face so well. I have a small face so many of the masks I've tried tend to be tad big. Face Q masks fits my nose, eye area, and mouth area almost perfectly! The eye area can be alittle too close to the eye and can be uncomfortable since these masks hold so much essence it may feel strong.

The packaging is quite cute too. Each mask is its own color with its own unique girl cartoon. The pack itself is smaller than MBD masks too but this is out of my memory. I do not have anymore MBD masks at the moment to compare.

Overall, I do recommend these masks if you are a fan of My Beauty Diary! They're great for all skin types and also affordable. Don't expect much else outside of hydration your skin though, there are better masks for other skin issues.
