Glossier is a beauty company that makes skincare and makeup. They are based in New York and I've only been able to get their products from their site. I heard about them from an Amazon review actually on a different brand. I wanted to try their Solution which is their acid acne treatment and exfoliator. You can get 10% off your first purchase with our link!
Solution has lactic acid, glycolic acid, gluconolactone, and salicylic acid. The salicylic is only 0.5%, but with all the AHA, BHA, and PHA acids the blend is 10%. I am hoping this will help with my blackheads and acne scars. I am using it on my back and chest as well. The staff that I asked said this shouldn't discolor clothing, and advised to let it absorb into the skin before dressing.
The bottle is packed in a foil bag which has the ingredients list. The bottle has a push down dispenser. Directions says to use a cotton pad, but I try using my fingers as I don't want to waste product on the pad. It does squirt out a bit so it doesn't comes out gently unless I push down slowly. The product is watery in consistency and has a a bit of a lemony perfume kind of scent. There is fragrance in this so the scent is probably from that. Applying this is like applying toner. It does leave a tacky feeling to the skin which mostly goes away after awhile. It doesn't sting at all unless the skin is irritated from exfoliating or anything similar.
The first week I did breakout, but I believe this is normal when you use a new acne treatment. I used it twice a day on my face and once a day on my back. I did notice it has left my skin feeling a bit more softer and smoother. Usually my skin has a bumpy feel on certain areas due to blackheads.
Second week I am still breaking out. I did see that my pores stay smaller longer after doing things like masking and using the blackhead removal tool. My back is riddled with acne scars, but using this Solution on my back has definitely lightened up those scars a bit.
Third week I have noticed that the pores and blackheads on my nose are smaller. But it really hasn't help prevent my hormonal acne so I am starting to pair it with an acne wash, and so far it hasn't irritated me skin.
Now that its been over a month, I have to saw this definitely made my skin soft, but its not a miracle product that made my blackheads, dark spots, and acne go away. This product is $24 so I feel its pretty good for that price, and I've only used a little more than 1/4 of the bottle. I'd definitely recommend it!
UPDATE It has been 2 months since using it, I'm half way through the bottle and I have finally got my skin the best I've seen it since I can remember. I've been using this twice a day along with this acne wash my skin has been behaving quite well. My period should be starting soon and this is usually the time I breakout around my upper lip and chin area, but only a small pimple on my upper lip has surfaced. My pores are still big and visible, but I do see that they're not as big as before. Since the number of outbreaks I get have lessened, my skin can finally reduce the like 50 scars I got over the many years I've struggled with acne. It also worked great on my back and chest! Only bad thing I can say at the moment is that it tends to be out of stock. Definitely sign up to get notify when its in stock!
UPDATE2: Its now been about 6 months since I started using this and I have 1/3 left of the bottle. I have noticed the product getting cloudy inside the bottle which is a bit concerning, but its not entirely cloudy. My skin hasn't changed since my last update until recently I was breaking out quite a bit for over a week. I haven't broke out that bad since using this product. It could be due to a number of factors like the colder winter weather, the food I've been eating, or hormones. I have no idea so this product isn't a miracle that will cure me of my acne problem. Luckily I haven't gotten any pimples that were as big as before and this recent break out the pimples where small.
Dr. Brandt microdermabrasion. I never tried this brand before so I wasn't sure if its good or not. Its advertised to renew radiance, polishes, and smooths skin. Instructions says to dampen skin with warm water, and gently massage cream for 1-2 minutes.
The product is a white cream with some grittiness. There's no plastic beads instead it has aluminum oxide crystals. Its really fine like sand so its not super rough feeling. It has a blend of jojoba, chamomile, and aloe vera into the cream to soothe the skin. The cream also smells a lot like toothpaste. It has menthol in the ingredients so that would explain the minty smell. It took a quarter size amount of product to over my face. It doesn't hurt and its quite like a regular cream cleanser. But after I rinsed I definitely saw that my face is a lot more brighter and clearer. It helped minimize my pores and blackheads, and it took some dullness away.
So far no irritation or breakouts. I am quite impressed with it, but the full size price is $78 for 2oz YIKES. Luckily Amazon has it for $69 but it is still on the pricey side. Though since the results were impressive I do intend on saving up to get it. So would recommend giving the sample a try first to see if it works for you. Otherwise I do recommend this exfoliator!
This is a sample that came with my order. I was hesitate on using it since it says its not for sensitive skin, but I figure I would try it just to see. This is a exfoliating treatment with AHA and BHA's. Description says the fruit enzymes will support natural cell turnover, smooth fine line and wrinkles, unclog pores, and improve skin condition.
The product is like syrup, and it also looks like a wild berry fruit juice. It even smells like wild berry juice, and its smells delicious enough to eat though that be a really bad idea. Directions say to apply a even layer on the skin, and let it set for 10 minutes and no more. I didn't want to risk irritation so I left it on for less time. It does have a slight burning sensation on more sensitive areas. So I've been using it on my nose rather than my entire face.
There is a warning for your skin to be more sensitive to sun and possibly irritation after the treatment so they advise to wait a week before another treatment. So far, I haven't gotten any irritation and results were subtle. I primarily just like it for the berry smell. As to whether I'd buy it or not I'm not sure. I might buy it just because its the best smelling exfoliator I've ever tried.
I enjoyed their Jojoba scrub, so I wanted to try this scrub out. Like the other scrub, this one also contains jojoba wax beads which are an environmentally safer type of microbeads than the plastic ones in cosmetics. They're pretty small like course black pepper so definitely be careful not to get them in your eyes.
I love the smell of this scrub though since it smells fruity, and they smell like Starbursts candy! The scrub is gentle, and didn't feel harsh on my skin. It does a decent job of exfoliating as well. Directions say to use it after cleanser, and use up to 2-3 times a week. Its 95% organic, vegan, and first two ingredients are aloe juice and coconut oil. I quite like it more for its fruity scent which isn't strong just moderate.
Overall, I do enjoy this scrub and would probably use it instead of the Jojoba one since I didn't see a different between both of them other than smell and color. Michael Todds has a small 40ml bottle of it so you can give it a try and see if you like it!
I got a sample of this product that lasted me for about a month. I didn't expect much out of it because they said its gentle, but it actually works pretty well. I ended up buying the full size after I finished it.
The product is a thick cream with rice bits which is nice since I rather have a natural exfoliator than some plastic beads. The directions advise that you put it on a dry face so its not something you want to do in the shower. But you can use a bit of water if it gets too rough. They also say you can use water to work up a lather after scrubbing dry. It definitely feels gentler than the drugstore apricot scrubs and you will have to use more than a quarter size amount since its not easy to spread the product on your face as it would dry out too much. It has a mild citrus and floral smell that I think its suppose to be a therapeutic element to the product. One warning I would advise to not to get the product in your eyes as it will sting. So please be sure to rinse the eye area well before opening your eyes.
Overall, I really like this product and would recommend it. Its gentle enough to use almost everyday and it has made my skin look brighter and even my pores look a little less huge. It definitely helped with smoothing out the skin and diminishing acne scars.
