Facetory LUX subscription

 


 I've previously made a post about Facetory's 4Ever facemask subscription but that has sadly discontinued as of this year. They have offered a discounted subscription for a few months to their 7 mask subscription which I have taken. The price for the Lux is $19.90 for 7 sheet masks plus 1-2 bonus items so in total its 8-9 items. Price wise it is the same as 4Ever one just doubled. Its more than I'd like to pay for masks but so far I am liking it so I may keep it. Its a convenient way to get sheet masks so if you're interested you can sub on Facetory!

 Having 7-8 sheet masks a month is kinda of alot as I don't often remember to use it more than once a week, but I am curious how much of a difference using it twice a week will be. I do enjoy that it includes a small skincare product. I got a toner, exfoliating pads, and gel moisturizers so far. 

 I've noticed that in every pack they include one bio-cellulose or hydrogel mask. I never used a full face one before and so far I'm not a huge fan of them. They're not fabric and kinda of reminds me of jello so they don't hold the essence as much as the fabric ones. Also They don't seem to stick to my skin but maybe its just the brand I was given cause they're heavier. I know I'm probably not apllying it right so I'll try again but so far they don't feel as hydrating as the fabric ones. Overall, I am liking the Lux but if the 4Ever ever comes back I'd probably switch back but I think its a good deal. They give you a variety of price range masks but I personally don't really feel much of a difference between a $2 to a $6 mask.

Facetory



 Facetory is a monthly subscription box service where you get Korean face sheet masks in the mail. Thought this be a good way to get sheet masks as part of my skincare routine. Whether you're new to sheet masks or have been using them for awhile, this is a pretty nice convenient way to get them. They have two options: a 4 sheet mask sub at under $10 a month, or a 7 quality sheet mask sub for under $20 a month.

 I got their 4 Ever Fresh subscription which is 4 sheet masks that cost me $8.90 that shipping cost is part of that price. So each mask cost me about $2.25 which sounds reasonable to me. It is the least expensive subscription I've bought. The first pack I got included two brightening masks, a snail mucin mask, and a 3 step firming mask. The second month I got two extract masks one with pomegranate and the other is aloe, a strawberry milk mask, and as pore control mask. They do include a notecard explaining each mask since the mask's packaging sometimes has no English on them. Their website will show you what masks are going in the current month's box so its not going to be different for everyone.

 The masks have done fine for me so far, and has kind of helped my skin during this winter season.  I will update later on if I think this subscription is still worth it. The luxe box is a bit too expensive for me to want to try.

UPDATE 6/30/2018
 By now I've have gotten 9 monthly packs of sheet masks, and I do plan on continuing this subscription. I do like having a variety of masks, and I feel it has helped my skin feel a bit better. I did tend to forgot to put them on for the first few months, but now I do use one once a week. What I like the most about this is that I can use everything. Its not like other boxes that I don't use or like one or more things in the box. These masks have multiple skin benefits so I feel they will benefit you no matter what skin type you have.

So perhaps I may try the Luxe set and see if those masks make a difference.Since they do a reward system as well, every month I pay for the 4 Ever Fresh I also earn reward points. These points to go into discounting future monthly boxes or past monthly boxes. You can also use them on their online store.

Too Cool for School Egg Cream Mask


This Egg Cream Mask has been talked about quite a bit by people, and its available on Sephora, Amazon, and other stores. I got mine at Sephora to get free shipping. I only bought one sheet which priced at $6. This is pretty pricey for one mask sheet but I wanted to try it and well I needed free shipping.

This mask is for hydration, brightening, and firming the skin. Its advertised to nourish the skin and remove sebum and dead skin cells for clean smooth skin. The sheet is ultra microfiber nylon thats suppose to be silky and comfortable.

The mask has a plastic mesh that helps keep the mask for rigid to apply on your face easier. You must remove the mesh once you get the mask positioned on your face. The mask itself is quite slimey so its a little hard to get the mask on since gravity can make it slip on your face. The eye holes in this mask is so small though that it often got on my eyes while trying to put it on. It did fit my face relatively fine. There is fragrance so it has this powdery perfume smell to it. Not a fan of the scent, but it isn't too strong to be sickening.

The ingredients in this mask is not that great. The majority of it are scientific names that have moderate to high safety risk according to EWG's database. You can read the full ingredients list on Sephora. The egg yolk extract and albumen extract are at the bottom of the list meaning its takes up a small percentage of the serum in the mask. I only had this mask for about 30 minutes instead of the 10-20 minutes the directions said to use. It also said to massage the remaining serum into the skin, but I decided to rinse it off mostly to get rid of the fragrance. So did it work? Well my skin did look a bit smoother, but I don't think the price and the ingredients to be worth it. Better just have a egg mask with an actual egg! Much cheaper than way.

Sheet Masks Tip

Sheets masks are great but ever notice that there are serum left inside the packet that didn't get on the mask? Well you should save that if you like! I have a empty hand cream plastic jar that I pour the left over serum into. I use the serum to make a cotton mask with cotton sheets. You can even just straight apply it to your skin as well.

My Beauty Diary Black Pearl and Royal Jelly Masks

I've been hearing about these Taiwanese cotton masks called My Beauty Diary and that they're popular and great. So I've decided to try a pack because the price is not too bad. One pack is about $15 and it included 10 masks. Cotton masks are not really heard of in the western world as far as I know of. They're are just a sheet of thin cotton saturated with extracts. There are holes for your eyes and mouth you can just unfold them and place on them your face like a regular mask. They're popular in Asia because they're hydrating which is very important to having nice skin.

There is English on the box so you can read that you wear one for 20-30 minutes for 2-3 times a week. I've only used them once a week or so. So far they're really soothing and hydrating but nothing all that spectacular or amazing. The masks fit my face well, it is short on my nose and a little too low for my mouth but aligning them wasn't a problem. These masks can get cold so I think they be great for warm weather, but since it winter now it almost makes my face feel numb from the cold. At first I wore them till they dried out which took at least an hour since it holds alot of liquid. Then I tried with the suggested time and just saved it use again since its still wet. I haven't seen any difference in the two methods I've used. I did them at night and put on my night skincare on top before bed. In the morning I noticed that my pores are bigger and clogged than usual so I'm trying to use them in the morning or without putting my night time skincare on and see if it improves. I have naturally large pores on the majority of my face so I try my best to keep them at the minimum size.

So I've been following the directions and just wear them for 20-30 and it really works better than wearing it longer like I have. My pores don't get clogged and overall my skin looks better if I follow the directions than try to get the most of it. So yeah, lesson learn FOLLOW DIRECTIONS, haha.

Overall, I find these very hydrating and the scent is really nice and light. This company has a very large selecting of these masks so I suggest trying them out since the price isn't too bad. But don't expect any miracles to happen unless you wear them all the time. But they do make my skin look healthier so its not like it doesn't do anything

Missha Pure Source Sheet Masks

I bought a couple of Missha's sheet masks so I will write about my impression on them. I had to buy them individually than as a pack so I cannot say much about the effectiveness of the product from just using one. I have bought the pearl and the lemon mask. The packaging is rather big compare to My Beauty Diary's masks. One side has a macro photo of the mask's feature ingredient which is attractive, the other side is white with directions, info, and ingredients list in english and korean. There is no plastic copy along with the mask like My Beauty Diary does so its not as heavy. There's also not as much serum in the masks as My Beauty Diary. The cotton mask has a slight textured grain to it. The shape of the mask is like a football where its wider but height is shorter. It still fits my entire face, and there's also a flap for your eyelids but I just overlap it. Because its a bit big on my there is alot of wrinkles and overlaps when I wear it. The mouth cut is too big for me but the eye cut is perfect.

The pearl mask is for brightening and vitalizing. Making dull and darkened skin more clear and youthful. There is fragrance and alcohol denat. in this mask so its doesn't have the greatest of smell. Because there isn't so much serum in the mask like My Beauty Diary, it took about 20 minutes for the mask to feel dry enough for me to remove it. It was also easier to pat and massage the remaining serum since there really isn't much left so it made it easier. My skin did look brighter has use so that is a plus. There isn't alot in the ingredients list so I will put it up as its listed on the packaging: Water(Aqua), Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Alcohol Denat., Pearl Extract, Betaine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Phenyl Trimethicone, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Methylparaben, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Dipotassium Glycyizate, Phenoxyethanol, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Polyacrylate, Propylparaben, Disodium EDTA.

If you read the list, you will noticed there are parabens in this mask. If you are concerned about them please do not buy! I did not get irritated or had any weird reactions to using the product, but since there are studies saying parabens are harmful I will not be buying these anymore. Although I did get a small breakout the day after using the pearl mask, but whether the mask caused it or not I can't really say.

The lemon mask is for trouble skin and helps with excessive sebum and large pores. It doesn't have a strong alcohol smell compare to the pearl mask. I also didn't really see much of a difference before and after using the mask. It did help lower oils from produces on my face so that's a plus.
Here's the ingredients list for the lemon mask: Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Alcohol Denat., Citrus Medica Limonum(Lemon) Fruit Extract, Betaine, Sodium Hyaluronate, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Phenyl Trimethicone, Methylparaben, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Dipotassium Glycrrhizate, Phenoxyethanol, Carbomer, Triethanalamine, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Polyacrylate, Propylparaben, Trisodium EDTA, Fragrance(Parfum)

Overall, I think these are good masks for the price, but because it contains parabens I wouldn't buy anymore.

Face Q Masks - Luffa + Adlay and Ocean + Aloe

I received samples of these masks from an order so I will write my impressions of them. Face Q is another brand off of the company who makes My Beauty Diary masks. So the mask design is very much similar to My Beauty Diary masks. There's not many masks from Face Q compare to MBD and they're all not that much different from each other. The mask sheets are made of 100% wood pulp for better absorption of the serum. These masks are mainly for hydration and elasticity to the skin.

What I like about these masks the most is that the masks fit my face so well. I have a small face so many of the masks I've tried tend to be tad big. Face Q masks fits my nose, eye area, and mouth area almost perfectly! The eye area can be alittle too close to the eye and can be uncomfortable since these masks hold so much essence it may feel strong.

The packaging is quite cute too. Each mask is its own color with its own unique girl cartoon. The pack itself is smaller than MBD masks too but this is out of my memory. I do not have anymore MBD masks at the moment to compare.

Overall, I do recommend these masks if you are a fan of My Beauty Diary! They're great for all skin types and also affordable. Don't expect much else outside of hydration your skin though, there are better masks for other skin issues.
