New Amiibo announced from Nintendo at E3 2017


These are the new amiibo announced. Details on their functionality in games and release date hasn't been given yet. However the Metroid and Samua are said to be released alongside the 3DS game that comes out September 15. It probably be the same for the Mario set for the Odyssey game, the champions for the champions DLC for Breath of the Wild, and Fire Emblem Warriors.

Amiibo


 So I've started buying amiibo just to use on Breath of the Wild. I have heard of these amiibo before, but I haven't really understood what exactly they do. They're pretty much little plastic statues that have the ability to give you bonuses in Nintendo games. Nintendo consoles do have a reader on them that will scan the bottom of the amiibo base. These bonuses tend to be minor and cosmetic. Though there are people who just like to collect them and keep them in their boxes. You can't use them in games if you keep it in the box though since there's a blocker to prevent people from scanning in store or whatever.

 These amiibo tend to be around the $12+ in price. I only have two so far, but they're around 4" tall and 2" wide. Size will depend on the characters. They're not very big, but its a decent size. For the price and the size, I do like the detail on them. I do think its more detailed than a typical toy for kids would be. To be clear, these aren't toys but more of a collectable product that's meant for display.

 If you wanted to collect figures, but find anime figures are just too expensive, these are a good affordable way to have a figure collection. Though once you start it can be hard to stop. I've only wanted two for BotW, but now I'm aiming to get the other Link amiibo. Since BotW has come out, it has made amiibo sell quite a bit. It is hard to find amiibo from the Zelda series. And resellers are pricing them at very high prices. Luckily amiibo are not limited runs, and Nintendo will restock them, but not a lot. It would takes weeks to months for restock to happen. While you may think why they produce so little, please keep in mind that figures take time to make. Manual labor time. Machines don't spit them out perfectly. For an amiibo like archer Link, there's definitely a lot of detail that needs to be done by hand.

 If there's a character you like, definitely try to get it! If you play Nintendo games that uses amiibo, then that's even better. You can only scan each amiibo once a day for bonuses. They use NFC technology which I believe is the same as phone payments like ApplePay uses. I have seen on ebay people selling NFC tags but these are hacks. There are official amiibo cards that are alternatives to the figures, but there aren't many. Be sure to check to see if the cards you find online are official or fan made. While they may seem like a good deal since they tend to be cheaper than the figures, the sellers will make quite a bit of money since the NFC cards themselves are fairly inexpensive.  Overall, amiibo are great! There are even people who do custom amiibo so check those out to see what people have made their amiibo into. Some are pretty neat.

Play Arts Kai Final Fantasy VII Remake Cloud Strife







 The first FF7 Remake figure is of course Cloud who has finally been released and arrived safe and sound. He's is my first Cloud figure so I won't be comparing other Cloud figures to this one. I'm overall satisfied with the figure. He isn't as impressive as AC Sephiroth, but I've expected that. Cloud's design hasn't been consistent so I'm not attached to anyone of his designs. This Cloud is definitely the least feminine looking I've seen so far. He looks better in person than in photos too.











 Lets talk about his head. His head is a bit bigger than AC Sephiroth's. His face has sharper features and doesn't have that soft looking face that AC Cloud has. His face is also a tad skinnier than the Remake Cloud model on FF Mobius. Personally would like to have him a bit more softer and less skinny looking. Otherwise he almost looks exactly like the Remake trailer. As for his hair, its quite detailed. Definitely a lot more spikes going on in this design. Perhaps there's a bit too much detail. I would like some locks to be more flatter than having all these raised strands. Its sort of tempting to sand them down a bit, but I don't have any means of repainting so I can't do that. It does look more impressive from afar though.




 As for his body, I find his torso a tad too long and thin for my liking especially around his waist belt area. Its not really flattering. I feel that if his arms were a little thinner it whelp balance it out. His arms also seem not the most balanced. It looks like his forearm is shorter than his upper arm. Almost tempting to want to sand down his bicep a little bit, but again I don't have paints. These are just nitpicks though. The clothing and everything else looks pretty dang good. He even got a cute sculpted butt. Sephiroth definitely didn't get that. Cloud stand 10.5 inches tall, but its quite near the 11 inch because of his hair. AC Sephiroth is still taller than him. His shoulders are about 2.5 inches in width, his waist is almost 1.5 inches in width. His arms are nearly 4 inches long and his legs are 5 inches long from his crotch to the bottom of his shoes.


 On his back, you can pull off this center piece to attach the Buster Sword. This little piece is a bit difficult to get off at first since its so flushed in there. It was inevitable that I got a slight dent on it. This piece isn't the piece you use to stick the sword in place. There's another smaller piece that does that. Only one end will fit through the opening in the sword, but it will be tight. It was hard to take it out again. Using a pencil shaped rubber eraser was the most gentle way of taking it out for me. The Buster Sword is neat looking. It has some wear details on the tip and the edges. The blade is 8 inches long, the handle is 1.5 inches so overall the sword is about 9.5 inches in length. Its width is about 1.5 inches.



 He also comes with extra 3 pairs of hands and a stand. I think this figure is pretty good for the price. Whether they will make more Cloud after this Remake game its hard to say. So if you're a fan and is excited for the Remake, I think its worth getting this figure!

Play Arts Kai Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Sephiroth



 I've been wanting this but didn't really plan on actually buying him. I did ended up getting him in the end since it is Final Fantasy VII 20th anniversary. Being one of my favorite games I feel I should have some merchandise since I really don't have many. This is the Advent Children movie version of Sephiroth so I am curious to see if a Remake version will be announced this year or not. I would be interested to see how it compares to this.



 This is my first Play Arts figure so I want to compare it to other posable figures that I have like figma and azone dolls. So the box for Sephiroth is big. Its 10.5" wide, 12" in height, and 5.5" in depth. The box has a flap that has a magnetic closure. That magnetic was glued on but mine very easily fell off when I was trying to get the figure out. The plastic tray that held the figure is thin and flexible which made it very hard for me to take it out. I ended up ripping a half inch tear in the box before I had to open both sides of the box to take it out. The tray held the figure with the wing and sword  behind him. The 4 hands sat in it own spot on the upper left part of the tray. The wings and sword are held down by zip ties, but the hands aren't so they will fall out when you go to turn the tray over to undo the zip ties. So be sure to take the hands out before turning the tray around. There is also a cardboard slip that holds the pieces of the stand and some instructions. If I had the space, I would like to keep Sephiroth in the box.


 Sephiroth himself is nearly 11" tall so it is my biggest and heaviest figure I have so far. He's has a ridiculous 8-9 heads tall proportion so his head does seem small for someone that is 6'1". The figure has a mild sweet plastic-y smell which is kind of interesting. As for his lovely face, Square has been pretty consistent with his design and for a good reason which is that he doesn't need changes like Cloud. So his face definitely matches how it looks in recent games.



 His hair is beautifully done and designed. There's transparency in the hair that is more noticeable at the ends. The locks themselves branch out like a tree. The hair is very flexible and I really don't fear them breaking or tearing at all.



 His coat is also flexible but not as much as his hair. The coat does have two layers, and the under layer is wrapped around his waist. There is one thin belt that closes the coat. Please don't be like me and try to undo it because its not a button that you can close again. Undoing the belt was pretty easy, but so far I wasn't able to put the peg back in which is fine. I do have plastic glue and super glue, but I am keeping it open anyways. I opened it because I wanted to see the detail of the soldier suspender and belt. The joints have different levels that clicks. So its quite clicky when you move the joints around. This makes this figure the stiffest compare to figma and azone that I have though I guess it makes poses more stable and less likely to change from gravity or accidentally bumping them. I like that he even has the ability to bend his toes too.


 The sword is longer than Sephiroth, its 13.5" long. Its quite thin and light that I am trying to be gentle with it cause if it breaks that would be terrible. There is a left hand that you can hold the sword. The fingers aren't flexible so its not easy to get the sword through them.



 The wing is pretty neat looking if you don't focus on the ball joints. The joints also are clicky. The outer third of the wing has a lot more poseable freedom than the smaller two parts of the wing. The detail of the feathers is nice and kind of mesmerizing. To attach the wing, there is a part of his back that you can popped off. The wings definitely makes him more impressive looking though I sadly don't have to space for it.


 Overall, this Sephiroth figure is gorgeous. If you are fan I'd definitely think this figure is worth buying if figures are an interest to you. He is about $150 which isn't the most affordable price range. If you have any questions about this figure you can leave a comment below and I will try to answer as soon as possible.

Using Ikea SOCKER as a display case


 When I went to Ikea, I saw this thing on the display floor and thought it would be perfect to put my Free figmas in. I saw some people make wonderful and creative rooms and homes for figmas on twitter, and it really inspired me. However, the cost to go into that was a little too much. I originally was just going to DIY everything with cardboard, but seeing this from Ikea just made everything easier.

Yes, it is a greenhouse, but who cares. Its in the shape of a house, and the simple design makes it a nice obstruction free view of whatever I put in it. This greenhouse is pretty affordable at $20. Setting it up was pretty easy too, though there was one part that wasn't fitting into the slot. It was an easy fix with a metal file though. The panels are not made of glass, but of plastic or acrylic I really can't tell the difference. The greenhouse isn't 100% enclosed. The base is like a tray and is not attached to the rest of the greenhouse. You can take the rest of the greenhouse off the base, and it doesn't sit flush against the base when you put it back together. Also the opening on the top part of the greenhouse don't sit flush either because of the hinges.

As for size, it is a little tall, but its a pretty decent size room for figmas. I am getting my first 1/6 doll from Azone sometime this year so I will see how that fits in this greenhouse. I think it has great decorating potential. I am too lazy to do it, but I think it be easy to add in flooring and wallpaper. Possibly printed and pasted on cardboard or something and just stick it to the sides. And with the clear panels. it be like actual windows.  Again, this thing has lots of potential! I just wanted to share this idea with everyone, and hope maybe I'll see someone do something neat with it on twitter.

I did recently noticed some new things from Ikea too online. One is this doll house shelf that I think has some potential since it has rooms and seems like a decent size. There is also an actual display box with LED lighting. Now these last two products are in the childrens' section and are about $30. I've also seen people use RIBBA wall frames to display things like legos mostly. RIBBA frames only have the depths of 1 3/4" which isn't a lot of room, but there is a new kind of frame I saw called KASSEBY which has 3 1/4" in depth. I could fit miniatures in that. I've seen that people make DIY shelves for RIBBA frames too which is also a neat idea!

Anyways, these are alternative ways to display items without using big expensive shelving units like bookcases and display cases. Its good for those who don't have that much stuff in the first place nor the room for shelves.

Final Fantasy Mascot Strap Cloud Strife


Hello, this is a post on the new official Cloud mascot strap. This guy isn't in the US Square-Enix store but they do have the trading arts mini figures of it which is a bigger version of the strap.

This guy is TINY and the price is 1200 yen for it which is quite pricey in my opinion. I've taken a photo of him with my small hand just to give you a sense of how big he is. He is under an inch overall in size. The strap comes with a loop strap and a headphone jack.

This chibi style is from the new World of Final Fantasy game and I really think the style is super cute. I like it more than the Theatrhythm style chibi. I do really like it and hope they release the rest of the characters. I wouldn't mind getting the mini figures if the straps isn't happening.
