One Punch Man
I've heard about the manga for awhile, but the design of the main character plus the unexciting title is unappealing to me so I've never looked into. Now that it got an anime I've been seeing it in much for frequently. So I've finally decided to give it a try to see what the hype was all about.
One Punch Man sets in modern day Japan where monsters and bad guys occasionally come out to destroying things and killing people. Its quite a crisis, but it seems to be quite normal despite all the destruction. The series revolves around Saitama. A man who was once a miserable jobless man who then took up being a hero as a hobby. He trained for about 3 years, and somehow because powerful enough to finished any enemy off with one punch hence the title name. While it may seem impressive it is quite boring for Saitama. The lack of thrill makes him take the hero deeds less seriously attitude wise.
This story isn't too serious and it rather parodies the shounen action genre. The manga art and the animation quality is pretty high quality. Sometimes I wish the story was as quality to match it. Some of the battles is anticlimatic since Saitama is essentially overpowered to hell. I personally don't find too much entertainment from them, and wait Saitama's silly attitude it makes it worse. The only good thing about him to me is the comedy factor though even then its can get me to dislike him.
While this is a refreshing shounen series, I just cannot get myself to like the main character. Fortunately the other characters are more likable so it helps balance things like Genos. I just can't like this series as much as everyone seems to like it. Saitama just gets on my nerves a bit.
I will continue to watch this and just hope it gets better.
