Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans
Its been a while since I last watched a Gundam show. I heard some good things about Iron-Blooded Orphans so I decided to give it a try. Ended up watching the 8 latest episodes out now in one sitting.
Like probably all of the Gundam shows, the story is heavily political and tends to have a group of kids that get caught up in it. This show focuses on two boys name Orga and Mikazuki. They are "space rats" brats working in a sort of small privately own militia on Mars. They were handpicked by a noble young lady of sorts name Kudelia who is trying to bring revolutionary change. She picked a low type of company to escort her to Earth so she would get to know better the people she wants to help. Of course its awkward at first since both are so different. Her eyes are captured on Mikazuki, the strongest pilot and fighter who is only just a child.
Mikazuki is a lot smaller than Orga, but they seem to know each other since they were kids. Their past is unknown at the moment. Both seem to have some sort of expectations of each other, and it seems to motivate each other. It feels different than the typical rivals or even the typical friendship/comrades kind of relationship. Mikazuki mainly does the fighting, and for some reason the main love interest of two girls including Kudelia. Orga is the leader and mastermind. Orga does has others to council him as well. One thing that bothers me is Orga's design. His sweeping hanging clump of bangs is annoying me, and I want to cut it off! Its a silly complaint for a silly design.
The show is heavily story oriented so its quite a bit of talking than action. With a show like One Punch Man airing as well, this show may seem a bit boring and slow compare to it. The story isn't deep or complicated in Iron-Blooded Orphans, but it has some world building and history dialogue. Not the most exciting kind of talk.
The show overall is pretty good so far. Its not something that will leave you on the edge of your seat, but its entertaining at the least. Would recommend giving the first few episodes a try.
