Wolf Children Ame and Yuki
Saw screenshots of this movie and thought it looked beautiful so I wanted to see it. The story is mainly about these two kids growing up. They are not entirely human as the title gives it away obviously. I thought they would be like the cover image, but they get more furry-like. If you're not a into furry don't fret its really not that bad. It is an important part of these kids so their furry form does come onscreen every now and then. The story is a really nice so I recommend giving it a shot. The movie starts off with how their mother met their father in college. Their love story is pretty sweet and the father later revealed himself as a wolf man (kind like a werewolf but not) which didn't bother Hana at all. Hana soon got pregnant and had Yuki, Japanese for snow since it was snowing on the day of her birth. Like Yuki her brother, Ame, is born on a rainy day. Sadly their father had suddenly died and Hana vows to herself to properly look after the children. Thankfully they had savings so she was able to care for the kids. So this starts the movie of Hana's experience with caring for half wolf children with absolutely no knowledge about how to care for them. The family go through quite a number of challenges and worries when living in the city. They had to move to the countryside to avoid having their secret revealed. The countryside also proved to have its own challenges as well. The movie goes on till the children are nearing the age to go to middle school. They go through quite a bit but its still a sweet story.
The story has a great balance of hardship and happy moments. It also has some great development especially with the children as they grow and learn how different they are from everyone else. The movie is narrated by Yuki as if telling us her story of her mother and her childhood which is sweet as well. Art and animation is quite amazingly done too. I'm not that much into family stories, but this story was quite well done. Highly recommend!
