Youkai Apartment no Yuuga na Nichijou (2017)
This is another one of those anime series that's about youkai which I feel may be an acquired taste for western viewers. It is a cultural difference that I feel may seem silly to some westerners though it depends on how the story incorporates them. Youkai Apartment is about Yuushi who lost his parents to an accident. He has been living with his uncle, but feels like he doesn't belong there. When he finished middle school he aims to go to a high school with a dorm so he can finally leave his uncle alone. However the dorm was burned down so Yuushi had to find a cheap clean to live till the dorm is rebuilt. That's where he found this youkai apartment.
I'm a big fan of Natsume Yuujinchou so I did enjoy that this series also has stories on the numerous youkai in the apartment building. So far they have really touching stories that got me emotional. It not as touching as Natsume, but its a good alternative while Natsume isn't airing. Plus this series is set in a more urban area and Natsume is out in the country of Japan. Yuushi also has a best friend name Hase who I hope will get more screentime because he is a pretty decent character. Not to keep comparing this to Natsume, but Yuushi does eventually get a book that he can summon monsters with though it seems more like a Cardcaptor Sakura thing than Natsume's yuujinchou book.
Overall, this isn't a bad anime. The start maybe a bit slow, but it doesn't seem to be consistency slow Some episodes are more interesting than others. Its definitely a faster pace than Natsume and Mushishi. But its not a action pack anime and more of a slice of life. So you're into slice of life with supernatural stuff, then I would say to check this out. Of course if you're into youkai its worth giving this a shot.
