Final Fantasy VII Remake New Screenshots
These new screenshots from the Final Fantasy VII Remake is rather neat. I know some vocal people will always mention they want turn based combat back, but at this point its hard to say what the battle system will be like. For me, it definitely doesn't look like it be like FFXV combat at all.
The interesting part of the combat UI is that there is an ATB gauge underneath the HP bar. The UI is definitely a lot more like the original combat than a more modern style combat. The HP and ATB bar is also above Cloud's head. From this, to me it may just seem the combat is some combo of KH and turn base probably similar to FFXIII. From the screenshot's angle, the camera isn't following Cloud as it does in FFXV. This makes sense since FFXV you can only control Noctis while FFVII you control everyone during battle. Nomura did wanted to bring a video but wasn't allowed to at the time. Perhaps we will finally get some footage of gameplay sometime this year at least. Mostly likely during E3 or Tokyo Game Show at the latest.
Nomura stated that they will keep the essence of the original game's universe in the remake. While its understandable they don't want to keep the scenes to the original rather than the modified ones in like Crisis Core. I wouldn't be too against them mentioning Sephiroth's old friends though since I did like that part of the compilation games. The producer Kitase has said they were nearly done with the voice acting of the main storyline. This statement does make it seem like they're probably nearly done, but it really doesn't say much. I highly doubt this means the voices for the whole story, but just the first installment of the game. Since its only the main storyline, that doesn't seem to include any side, background, or even battle voices. Since the first part will most likely just be all set in Midgar, they will have to get voices to do all the side stuff for the crossdressing part of the game. Just imaging what the Honey Bee will be like just makes me laugh.
While all this is very exciting and hype, we cannot fall into our own traps of setting high expectations on things. For this game especially, I personally am putting it on low expectations. While I'm not one to care about the changes and would rather welcome them to the game, I still wouldn't have high hopes. The original game is quite silly and to think of all those silly things into modern HD graphics is kind of hard to imagine. For a game that people generally look at it to be a serious and probably badass game I can't help but wonder how the devs will treat silly looking scenes and how people will react to them. All I can say for now is that I can't wait for this game!
