Final Fantasy Legends: The Space-Time Crystal iOS
Final Fantasy Legends is a free to play game on iOS and Android. Currently only available on Japanese accounts so be sure to make one in order to play this. The story and game style is very similar to the FF series so definitely check it out if you are a fan of them!
The story is mainly about time travel where the main characters try to save the future from being destroyed by a god. The game is mostly battling waves of monsters. The screen will have a map, and there are towns and battle areas with swords and a hourglass. To progress in the story just follow the spots that have !! on them. Spots with ! are quests. You will have to level up to 10 to unlock all of the features. On the top left corner is the clock where you can go to different maps. On the bottom is your level which is for your entire party, then your swords bar which is like stamina, your hourglass amount, and the amount of gems. The sword and hourglass are spent for battles that require them. The swords regen over time, but the hourglass you get as rewards for completing quests. The gems are used for getting items in the game. I advise saving them to use on the gacha card system than to get the treasures at the end of battles.
Your level and weapons don't do much for stats for your party members, but the abilities do. The abilities are like cards that you equip to the characters. They're not called cards in the game, but since its easier to understand what they are like I will continue to call them cards. These cards will make a huge beneficial difference to the stats. To get them you have to go to the crystal looking thing where you either spend 300 gems for one card draw, or 3000 for 12 cards. The cards do physical special moves, cast buffs, cast magic, etc. There are up to 6 starred cards. There is a tower on the top of the present time map where you earn a specific item through battles. You exchange these items for weapons and such.
To battle, there is a AUTO button to just auto attack the enemy. The battle is turn based and you can see the line of on the left side. On the right is a semi-circle menu of the abilities your character has. Just tap one and your character will do that move. On the top left is the battle score. The number determines the number of treasure boxes you can open at the end of the battle wave. Like with most Japanese games, there's a player support in battles.
I haven't played much of this game since its a bit too grind-y for my taste so I can't say much about it. The art style is pixel style, though its more detailed than the old school pixel style games despite it having that old school blue UI design. The setting and music is similar to the old school FF games, and it even reminds me of Chrono Trigger. If you are a fan of the old school style then I think you should check this out. This is a Japanese only game so not knowing Japanese it may not be that fun for you.
