Maleficent (2014)

The Maleficent trailer got my interested in this movie since I really like how they made Angelina Jolie into Maleficent, and also the cover for the Disney song is nice and creepy. It did take me awhile to finally watch it.

Its definitely not at all what I expected. It is a different take on the story in a good and bad way. It starts off establishing that the world has magical creatures and humans, and they don't get along well. Enter young Maleficent who is a fairy, but with big brown bird wings that make her look like an angel. She protects and guards the magical land that he magical creatures live. She meets and falls in love with a human boy who wants to be king. Malificent at this age is good and innocent. Not at all like the Maleficent that we know from the Disney animated movie.

Stuff happens, and Snow White is born. Now Maleficent is evil and the kingdom wants her dead for cursing the young girl. Even though they sent Snow White away for her safety, Maleficent still keeps a watchful eye over her as she grows. She definitely has some motherly instinct over her which is definitely quite different from the original story though I quite like it.

How it ends is also nice. Overall, the idea of the story is definitely enjoyable though it is a little lacking in some parts, but I feel that way for most movies. It is a decent movie surprisingly, and would recommend it if your into these kind of stories.
