Dealing with Negative and Depressing Thoughts and Feelings
When certain events in your life make you think negative or depressing thoughts, either from a fight or bad luck, it can be hard to get out of it. Some people can push those feelings away in minutes, and others may take days or weeks before they can move on. A teacher once told me to not make room in your life for negative people or thoughts. Their negativity will spread to you and affect your life and productivity. Nothing will make you happy more than yourself. You time is precious so spend them wisely. Do not waste them on people who constantly make you feel bad. Bullies and people who put you down or bother you just want to see your reaction and give them attention. The best way to deal with them is to ignore them like you don't see them or know them. Try to see them as little as possible. Sooner or later they will go away. This has worked for me. It may not work for everyone, but hope its somewhat hopeful. When something bad happens to you you would feel depressed and have negative thoughts and feelings. It's not good to be in that state as your feelings may make you think irrationally. So the best thing to do is to get a distraction for yourself. Focusing on your work is one good productive way to get your mind off the bad things. If that's not possible watching a movie or reading a book is also a good alternative. Don't take showers or chores like washing dishes that gives you time to think. This could include cooking and exercising. You need to keep yourself busy. Sometimes doing some art or writing a journal entry can help calm you down (crying too), but I would advise it to be done privately. You might not sound rational and you wouldn't want your friends or anonymous people to build up the bad thoughts and feelings. However its good to continue to keep yourself busy enough to forget about why you were sad in the first place. Play with your pets, learning something new, watching tv, play video games, or redecorate or reorganize your home. Do things that are mentally engaging so it will take your mind off depressing thoughts.
Continue to keep your mind off whatever event that made you depress till you can no longer feel depressed about it. It may takes hours to weeks depending on how bad this event has effected you. Then you can revisit the event and reassess it rationally. Turn it to a learning experience. Accept the fact to you're not perfect and no one is perfect. That way if it happens again you will not repeat history.
