Star Wars the Force Awakens
So I've heard a lot of people really enjoyed this movie. I am not one of them. Not to say it was terrible but let's say I wasn't completely satisfied.
First off is the story is a rehash of the original trilogy and it kind of put all 3 movies into this one movie. The pacing is a tad fast for my liking. Just a tad. Seeing the old cast and characters is really nice to see. The nostalgia is what really wins the big bucks for this movie. The main objective is finding a map that points to Luke's location.
The humor is nicely placed in this movie as well. It's feels natural and doesn't feel forced in there. I'm not into the whole revival of the dark side forces that's going on. It's feels cheap to me though I can't say I can think of a better alternative.
I do like the two main characters in this movie. The romance part of it does seem weird to me. It does seem appropriate. I like seeing a strong woman character but she is a little well over powered. She seems she can do everything and know everything. I'm exaggerating a bit but that how it felt to me. I do look forward to how she will proceed in the next movie.
I won't say who, but the character death made me sad. It kind of made this be an ok movie to me rather than a good or great because of it. Not to say the death was stupid or unnessecary or anything I didn't expect it to happen.
The real surprise and best part of the movie is the new driod, BB-8. It is incredibly adorable and shows lots of expression for a driod. It rivals wall-e's cuteness and charm. I love that little thing!
Overall the movie wasn't bad by any means. I mean the story to me was a lackluster but it wasn't unbearable. The feel and look of the movie is very nostalgic to the old trilogy. If you haven't seen the original trilogy I hope this movie will make you want to.
