Mobius Final Fantasy App game

I've been anticipating this game for awhile and its finally out! Mobius Final Fantasy is a free mobile Japanese game designed to have top graphics. It is part of the Final Fantasy line so typical FF stuff like magic, moggles, etc are in the game.

You play as a guy (named Wol, but his name is replaced with your username) who wakes up in a world called Paramitia with no memories. As you go down the road battling monsters, you'll eventually meet other characters. The story is basically Wol fulfilling the prophecy of being the Warrior or Light.

The battle system is interesting. Its not a typical hack and slash game, and involves a bit of tactics which can make battling a challenge. There's a lot of parts to the battle so I'll do my best to explain them! Starting from the top is score, number of waves in the battle, and help, where you can escape from battle. Below that is where Elements is collected. Every time you melee (tapping) elements pop up. You need these to use magic and abilities. Now below that is the monsters. Each monster has two bars (HP and Stagger) and its element. You will want to attack the opposite element in order to do the most damage. Melee hardly does anything to stronger monsters so elements is important. Even more important is the Stagger. The stagger bar has two levels: an orange bar, and underneath it a red bar. You must lower both bars in order to stagger the monster. Stagger is really important because this is the best way to defeat bosses and stronger monsters as it deals the most damage. Especially against bosses because regular melee and abilities don't do enough damage. The monster will lose a turn when staggered so you get to continue to attack it. On the right side are your ability cards: 4 cards from your deck, and one player support card. Each card has a certain number of grey squares. You must have enough elements to fill them up so you can use that ability. The card will pop up with its your turn to show that you can use it. On the bottom is a obvious green HP bar. The number above the HP is HP amount, and above that is the number of moves you can do on your turn. The colorful bar underneath it is your limit break bar. The circular thing is where you heal, put up elemental resistance, and use your limit break. You must tap and hold to have the options pop up. To change target, go to Target View. Auto is automatically do melee attacks to enemies. There is no pause button since the battle pauses when its your turn. It will stay paused till you attack so you don't have to worry about the monster attacking you while you choose or think. You will get a fairy name Echo as a support character. She will randomly aid you in battle by giving you health, or give you one more move.

This game has a job system. You will get job cards through the story, but after that you will get them through the card gatcha. You must level these individually so grinding is a must. Each job has specific elements to them so you can't use certain element cards. You will have to level up at least 2 jobs back to back since each can only have 3 elements and there's 4 total. Its be smart to have all 4 handy. The levels are determined by the cards' level added together. In the screencap above the 4 cards levels are 15, 11, 8 and 9 which equals 43 when added together. Leveling the cards is important since they increase your stats. Higher star cards have higher max level. You can level up cards during battle as well as combining other cards. Each job has a skill panel where you use elemental things you get from battle to add more HP, strength, etc. You can advance the job when you fill it all up, and use a crystal to open up the next panel.

Other than the main area, you will soon open up two other areas. One the fairy tells you about is some Mayan civilization map area. Treasure is supposedly here. There's locks you have to unlock. You have to battle minibosses (diamond shape ghost icon) in order to get the keys. There are also locks where you have to fight a certain number of enemies. This is a decent place to level since you will be battling a lot. The other area is where Garland tells you about that has a lot of cactuars. You get cactuar cards and such from here, but there's a 30 minute limit. You need 3 tome slate things to enter it every time. You get those from completing the daily mission. The cactaur place is really good to gain exp and cactuar which are for leveling up your magic cards. The fights are easy and only has 2 waves. Definitely take advantage of it! More areas continue to be added to the game.

After you finish Chapter 1, there isn't a chapter 2 yet so the story doesn't continue, but you do get some bonuses and new features. Yours cards now have increased their max level! So your 1 star cards can max level to 11 instead of 8. You can also do a Class Change for your cards where you can upgrade it to a higher level card after you've maxed it. You can also use the Revival feature in shop where you can summon a known card. You need revival tickets for those. There's also a challenge area that opens and the map is space-like. Each battle requires o stamina, but you get no element information and no friend support. There are 10 waves of monsters to battle through, and there's treasure in every battle as well.

Lots of grinding for this game. Monsters get quite difficult quickly otherwise this game is kind of fun. The graphics are impressive, and so far it has been running pretty smoothly and no crashes. I did download the high quality version which took an hour. I've never had anything download on mobile that took that long! I have been enjoying it despite all the grinding. Will look forward to events and such.
