The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner

Got a coupon from The Body Shop so I made an order of products online. It came in this thin bakery box styled plain brown box that has a eco friendly air it. It does say on the side its "wood positive" so its recycled? Not clear on that. Inside the top of the lid has the company's logo and slogan. They added that they're against testing on animals, support community fair trade, activate self esteem, defend human rights, and protect the planet. The products I ordered were resting on top of a nest of shredded crinkled cardboard strips. None of the products were damaged.

I've been wanting to try out The Body Shop's tea tree products since a beauty youtuber I follow uses this toner so I figured I give it a try. But I really wished I checked the ingredients list because number #2 is Alcohol Denat and you can smell it. Alcohol denat or Alcohol tends to be drying on some peoples' skin. The first time I put the toner on my skin was tingling and slightly burning and not at all pleasant. The product is packaged in a little 250ml rigid clear plastic bottle. The product has this murky green color (reminds me of algae) so it has coloring in it. Also the third ingredient is tapioca starch which sits on the bottom so you have to shake it up quite a bit cause well its like cornstarch. Really don't know why its in there. These are the first things I've noticed that really put me off about this product, but I wanted to try it out anyways since tea tree has worked for me in other skincare brands.

If I use a little amount of the toner is enough for my face and won't sting my skin. It's actually effective as a alternative to oil blotting papers. Just dabbing the toner on my oily areas can dry the area up in minutes. The tea tree smell is very medicinal scent, but I'm not sure if its the alcohol that I'm smelling as well. I did breakout while I started using this, and I had to stop using it since my skin was starting to peel. Will try to use it with another toner that's more gentle and hydrating than this.

Its hard to tell if this toner does anything to my acne. It seems only good as a spot treatment for my sensitive skin. I still get some bad breakouts every now and then, but not entirely sure if this toner contributed to it. One time I didn't get a chance to take a shower, and my hair was dirty and smells so I put a few drops of this toner to my scalp. It was really refreshing and it definitely got rid of the smell. It dried up pretty fast so I didn't have to worry about getting my hair wet since its just a few jobs in some areas.

I will update this post again when I finish this product before saying if I recommend this or not.
