Pet World Wildlife America

If you like wild animals and like the idea of caring for them in a rescue then this game is a nice way to experience that life. I found this game from searching on the app store looking for apps with foxes.  This game is free to play and pretty easy to play. You do have to unlock or pay for certain animals. There are optional ads to get more coins to pay for decorations and animals or have chores done.

Game play is pretty simple, you just drag the icons from the bottom bar to the animal or enclosure area to do chores like feeding and giving animals treatment. The rotation is a truck will drive up and honk. An icon will pop up on the left side where it will take you to the truck. A pop up will come up to show you what animal that is in need of care. You get profile of the animal with name, photo, ailment that needs treated, and bars that shows you their health. The bars are to indicate the animal's weight, health, and treatment level. The goal is to get them to go green. The weight is change by food which is the scale icon. If the animal is underweight you can drag the food icon to the bowl up to 3 times to give it more food. The scale updated right away so you can check the clipboard to see if its enough. The heart is change by water and fresh straw, and the last is obviously the treatment. Once its filled the treatment is done and you don't need to keep giving it treatment. Treatments is pretty simple too. The icons are relatively easy to understand. The sponge is for dirty animals, syringe is vaccines, the tube is for rashes, the pills is for worms, the gauze for injury, and the supplement bottle for pregnancy.  Foot steps icon will appear on the top to end the day. When the animal is healthy a person will come by and ring your doorbell asking to adopt. Adopting gives you coins! You can refuse if you want to keep the animal but there will always be someone coming by to want to adopt it. Once the animal gets adopted you have to clean the enclosure by shoveling up the straw and hosing it down.

The days are a bit random in how many animals will come. There are obviously caps on how many animals you can care for. Some days you the truck will bring enough to almost cap your animal cap out and some days nothing happens.

You start off with squirrels and skunks. You can care for up to 4 of each. Its not a lot to start you with so it does get rather boring with just these two. But you can use coins to unlock more animals! However it does take a bit. You will have to not buy any decorations if you want to get enough to unlock more animals. Most of the animals cost 1600 coins which is a bit hard to reach when squirrels and skunks get adopted for 20 coins. Rare ones will get you 40 coins! There are trophies that you can easily get that will reward you with coins as well. You can watch ads for coins but they only give me 10 coins which is way too little to be worth it. The cheapest animal you can unlock is the bighorn sheep which is about 580 coins. The second cheapest is black bears at 1200 coins. Most expensive are the wolves at 2000 coins. You can buy just the predators or all animals which strangely excludes mustangs. The bigger animals will fetch you 40 coins when they get adopted but they are capped at 3 each. When you unlock more animals it does get a bit easier to get the coins to unlock others.

I do find controlling the game a bit frustrating. The icons are small and on a phone it isn't the most forgiving. So many times I try to drag the icons up only to accidentally try to close the app down on my iPhone since the icon won't let my use it unless my finger is right on top of it. The same is for everything. You must put the food in the food bowl spot and the treatment right on the animal. But this is minor. Its doesn't make me hate it but it is a slight annoyance on a small screen.

Overall I do like this game and would recommend it for anyone who wants to virtually take care of wild animals.

Penguin's Isle

Penguin's Isle is a mobile game and a incremental game like Kitten Game. The art and music is really nice! The penguins are cute and you can unlock other animals. Its a chill game, but it does heat up my phone quite a bit so I don't have it open for long. It is a free game and definitely recommend it as its cute and chill.

You start off with the fishing habitat and earn money that are labeled alphabetically as it grows. You can use this money to unlock new habitats, level up to earn more money over time or adding more penguins. Penguins earn hearts over time which are used to level up Habitat Evolution. First level is auto collecting money and the rest increases money earned by percentage. The penguins walking around will have hearts that you can tap to collect. Sometimes they have a camera icon which you can take a photo and earn money as reward. In the water there be a wooden box that you can tap to get free money, a red gift box that you can get more hearts after watching an ad, and chest which summons a whale after watching an ad and you get money and also earn up enough to get gems.

Gems are the real money currency which at the moment you can use to buy Time Tokens and Treasure Chests. The Silver Chest give you a free opening after a certain amount of time has passed. Gold Chest can be rewarded from unlocking a new Habitat, otherwise these chests cost gems to open more. These chests are use to get other animals and special penguins. They will increase money and hearts! You have to collect a certain amount before you can get them on your Isle. You can do that in the Creatures tab in the same window as adding Penguins.

Other than leveling up and getting animals, there are Achievements and Quests to do. Achievements are listed out and reward gems. Item chests are the Treasure chests and Using a Skill is not something I understand what it is but so far the only thing that increases this is collecting Offline Reward. Gift Boxes are the ones in the water. Quests only show one at a time. Doing these reward a blue lightning which is used for Research. Research is next to the Habitat tab. These increases rewards and money as well as decreasing cost of penguins and habitats.

Overall, this game is pretty cute and has enough to do to keep you want to come back.

Lifeline

Lifeline is a mobile text based choice game. The story is you're communicating with Taylor who is stranded on some far off moon and trying to help him survive. The game is pretty simple and is pretty cheap. Its not a game that you can play in one sitting as there are many points in which Taylor goes in busy mode so you'd have to wait. I've gotten two endings, but I'm not sure if there are anymore than that. Overall, the game isn't bad and it was a bit interesting. I wasn't that into Taylor's personality as I find him a bit annoying, but I kept at it. It took me a few days to get through it all.

Some of the choices Taylor follows you and other he ignores what your suggestions. Only a few of the choices actually matter. So this is a basic choice based game. There does seem to be a number of different Lifeline games so I'm not sure if they will be any better or about the same. So I dont exactly recommend this game, but its an OK game.

Idol Fantasy

Idol Fantasy is Square Enix's male idol mobile game. The boys in this game came from a fantasy world, but on Earth they are idols. There isn't much to do in this game and leveling isn't the fastest thing to happen so its not the most fun to play in my opinion. The art in this is entirely in 3D, but the cards are 2D art.

The main story is unlocked by reaching certain levels, but the story isn't fully voiced. There is gacha system to get cards of the guys. You make teams of 5 and have them do idol work. These vary from music and acting types of jobs. Each have an easy, medium, and hard. You do a rehearsal first where you fill up meters of your team, and then do the job which has a cinematic scene. You can skip it all and go straight to the results. There's Live Battle which you battle against other players teams

The other thing this game has is Fantasia which is the other world. There isn't much to do in this map. Just see the boys walks around and you can tap to read their convo. There are spots that you can send some of the boys and they will retrieve stuff over time.

Overall, this game is rather simple and isn't much to it. Its not a game I would highly recommend, but if you wanted a simple idol game give this a try.

Food Fantasy

Food Fantasy is a mobile game where you collect characters called Food Souls to fight monsters and run your restaurant. The art is anime style and you have a choice of english or japanese voices. There's quite a lot of things to do in this game so it can be a bit hard to put down. Its not a bad game  so I would recommend it.

What you're doing in this game is getting Food Souls from the gacha and having them fight monsters. The battle is the map that has different areas with battle nodes. Theres repeatable battles and battles that you only do once. The repeatable ones are used to farm ingredients. What nice is that there's an option to sweep so you just get the drops without battling. You can only sweep once you fulfilled all 3 mission challenges on the battle. Battling is automatic, but there are abilities that fills up during battle and you tap to use them. There are weak points on boss monsters that you tap as well, and sometimes the Food Souls get immobilized by something like ice that you need to tap them out of.

The food and the Food Souls you can use in the restaurant. You can assign them to be the staff. Theres a separate page for leveling up dishes and researching ingredient combinations to unlock more dishes. Working at the restaurant does deplete Food Souls energy so once you level up enough you unlock the Ice Arena where you put them to regain energy for free.

There is a story to this as well, and you can read it in the missions/quest list. There's also side quests/missions to do which rewards you with useful items to get more Food Souls and leveling up items. These missions does keep you busy.

Other than the gacha you can get shards for Food Souls and once you get enough you can summon them. There are multiple ways you can get these shards. Shards are also how you raise the star level of the Food Soul. Though for this game the star level and the rarity of the Food Soul is separate.

Overall I do like this game. It is different from all the idol-like games I have tried so this caught my attention more.

Reigns: Game of Thrones

Just heard there's a Game of Thrones version of Reigns out, so I decided to try it out cause it sounds great. I haven't wrote a post about Reigns, but there's two games out that you play as either a king or a queen. Its a simple game of making decisions and trying not to get killed. If you are killed you take over the next ruler and continue on. There are goals to keep you going to see all the different events that can happen. There is a kind of story going on as well so there is an end somewhat. For this Game of Thrones version, they changed the game up a bit to fit the show more. Also if you haven't seen all 7 seasons of Game of Thrones, this game will have spoilers! But nothing is canon as its all what if visions. It is fun though so if you are a fan of the show I highly recommend giving this a try!

Whats neat about this game is that you can play as 9 characters of the show. You start off as Daenerys and then Tyrion will unlock. After that how you play will determine who next you can unlock. I quite like this as in the other reigns games it can get repetitive to die and start over. Each character is different so its add variety.

As with all Reigns games you have to balance the four icons on the top: sword for the army, the seven point start for religion, the stick figure for the people, and the circle for money. Each decision will either raise or lower at least one of the four icons. If you ever go above or below an icon you will die. There are also other ways to die besides the icons so you will be dying a lot. At least the show's soundtrack plays so it would feel cinematic. Overall, I am enjoying this game!

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery

Yes, there is a Harry Potter mobile game which took me by surprise but I suppose its kind of expected. This game doesn't follow the books and is a different story. You create a character of your own and he/she goes to Hogwarts. There is a story to your character as well that makes you somewhat special so its somewhat mimics Harry's story. The story goes through 6 years so I am somewhat interested to see how this turns out.

There isn't much gameplay happening in this game as you mostly just tap to proceed. You play through the main story, and there are side quests that pop up. The side quests unlocks spells and adds story to the side characters. You can explore the floors of the Hogwarts but most will be locked. When you do unlock a room you can go in whenever. The classes you can attend whenever as well so you can build up your traits: Courage, Empathy, and Knowledge. These traits help with your choices in the story. There are times where it will ask trivia which are somewhat easy to answer if you seen the movies at least. Getting them wrong doesn't seem to punish you.

Since this is a free mobile game, it does have the typical mobile game model. There's in game currency and gems that you pay real money for. These are mainly used to make things go faster. There is energy bar that replenishes over time, and cosmetic items to dress your character. You can also use gems to level up your friendships with your character's friends.

Overall, I don't think its a terrible game, but its not something I would recommend unless you got time and like the Harry Potter series. I will update this post when I finish the story

Tiny Pixel Farm

Tiny Pixel Farm is a simple ranch mobile game. You buy spots of land and build either a fenced area, a coop, stables, or a pond. Each offers their own types of animals. There's no day or night cycle, the animals are automatically fed and the produce they make are time based. You tape to place them into the shed that people buy it from. As you level up you unlock more land, animals, and a  new tropical farm. There is no veggie or fruit growing in this game.

You can buy workers and they have levels of their own. Each level makes them do more so its definitely worth getting them if you don't want to tap all the time. This game also has very little words so it did take me a minute to figure out what the pictures mean. There is a book icon that lists out all the possible animals you can get. Since this is a free game, there are quite a number of ads. This game isn't difficult and you can unlock everything in like a week or two. It is a cute game though and it did fill me need for a mobile farming game. I like that you can complete everything in this game, and uninstall it. I definitely recommend it!

My Tamagotchi Forever

I was surprised to hear there's a official tamagotchi mobile game as I wasn't sure how tamagotchi are still a thing today. I remember having a few as a kid so I did get this app for the nostalgia. I really didn't like it at first mostly because it has that usual mobile game model, and I really didn't like the noises the tamagotchis made. Luckily you can turn off the voices, and nothing so far has made me want to pay real money.

So I did stick with it for a few days, and so far I didn't kill it. The old games these tend to die rather easily if you didn't babysit it regularly. So far there are 3 babies, two toddlers, 4 teens, and 8 adult types that you can unlock. The 3D art of them is a little weird so I kind of wish there's a official old school tamagotchi app instead. But like the old games, there is still a bathroom, food, games, and sleeping that you do with the tamagotchi. You can buy certain types of food, and for games there are minigames but you can just pet the tamagotchi to raise its happiness.

The games only come to be used when they get to the adult stage and require something from the games in order to graduate. There is also levels that you gain and leveling up will unlock for types of food and items you can decorate the outdoor area. Overall, this is not too bad of a game, but its not exactly a fun game. Each type of tamagotchi is obtained by the kind of food you feed it in the previous stage. The game is still kind of new so hopefully they will add more to this game. I guess the best thing about this app is that the tamagotchis don't die, and I don't need to buy the game.

Animal Crossing Pocket Camp update!

Its been a few months since Pocket Camp released, and it has added quite a few new gameplay since! Other than more animals, there is a gardening plot, new fish, clothes crafting, new bugs, different requests from animals, memories, and new games.

All these has really enriched the game and I do look forward to what else they plan to add. The flower events were nice but I wish they lasted a bit longer since it was hard for me to take the time to do it and get the items I wanted. The new animal requests are a nice change and it doesn't make the requests seem boring. They ask you to find a lost item, a present to give to another animal, or for a certain type of item. So if you haven't touch this game in awhile, try coming back again!

MakeS Ohayo, Watashi no Sei (MakeS -おはよう、私のセイ)

I decided to try this game out after seeing quite a bit of Japanese tweets about this. Its an app otome game of this like virtual assistant kind of guy name Sei. There is a bit of story to this it seems. You first have to go through the intro before having all the menus and buttons are enabled. He will ask you for your name, birthday, and what you do (office worker, housewife, student, or other) and will introduce you to his alarm feature. Then you will set your wake up and sleep time and days. An error happens, and Sei ends up being more robotic.

So the goal seems to get him back to normal. The way to do this is by tapping on him. Tapping gives you the game's currency and fills up the purple bar on the left. Once filled it will turn into i's or information which fills a green bar on the right side, and the purple bar will have a 10 minute cool down. So tapping won't do anything until the cool down time is up. If you tap on the cool down timer, a pop up will ask if you want to watch video ads to skip the timer. You can do this 5 times a day. This also increases the sync percentage at the bottom. After a certain amount, the green bar will open up a green button and this is the "extension" which you can tap to execute it. After I did it, Sei became a little less robotic.

The book icon on the lower right side is where you can have Sei do lessons. More lessons open up when you reach a certain sync percentage. Doing lessons successfully can earn you game currency and there will be a 3 hour cool down. There are two types of game currency, the chip icon is memori which you can get easily from tapping, and the ticket icon currency is a harder to get type currency. You can easily get tickets by sharing on social media which you can do once a day. The currency is used to buy clothes, hair, and many other stuff to customize Sei. More items will unlock in the shop as you continue to play. The third circular icon in the shop is the real money amount. These cosmetic items do give bonuses to gain more memori, information, or sync percentage.

Other than the alarm, he also has a calendar and reminders. You can set up events in the calendar, and set task reminders. He also has a photobooth feature and there are options to change his pose and expression, but they are locked so I'm not sure at the moment how to unlock them.

This game is unique, it ain't the most exciting thing to play but I am curious to where it will go. I have yet to use him long enough to see if his alarm and reminders will actually be useful to me.

Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition

Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition is a mobile remake port of Final Fantasy XV. The game is much simpler and there some slight changes from the original main game that I think it be worth playing for those who had finished the main game. The first chapter is free to play and try out. The rest of the chapters locked by a pay wall. Chapter 2 and 3 are $0.99 and the chapters after that are $3.99. You can save money by buying all the chapters for $19.99. Its quite an expensive price tag for a "mobile" game, but I think its worth it. If you don't have a console or a good enough computer to get the main game, this is a great and cheaper way to play the game.

Chapter 1 is like a tutorial, but its not a bad tutorial. This chapter ends when they reach the hill overseeing the city after it falls. This chapter is quite linear. The main quests have its own map to explore and fight, but once you finish the quest you proceed to the next quest and map. You can't go back so be sure to take your time to pick up items and fight as many of the monsters as you can. Items can be found on the ground, in sand piles, and in boxes. They glow and flash so its easy to spot them. A new thing in this game is the treasure map. There's a certain area that you can dig and get items. You can treasure maps as clues to where to find them.

All the characters auto attack, but you can tap to which enemy you want Noct to focus on, and there be prompts to dodge, parry, and using your friend's special abilities. As you progress in the story you will get more weapons. You can toggle between them including Royal arms and magic. You can only carry one type of magic, and when you find another elemental node in the map, it will replace what you have earlier if you haven't used it already. Royal arms has a time limit and a cool down.

You will have to finish Chapter 1 before you can buy more chapters. This game only downloads a chapter at a time so it won't download all the chapters onto your device and take up space. There is also Cloud saving as well as local saving. Saving is only done automatically so there's no manual options. I personally don't think this is a problem as it auto saves relatively often. I don't think you'd lose a lot of progress from it. You can also change languages both in text and audio!

Overall, I do really like this Pocket version! It is already given me a lot of playtime so I definitely find the $20 price to be totally worth it. I saw some people say this is a summary of the main game story, but I really don't think its a summary at all. It has all the scenes from the main game, but the open world part is definitely not in this so you can't explore a big map. The artstyle is unique and cute, but it is slightly weird. It hasn't bothered me though, and performance wise it plays pretty well on my iPhone7 at 30fps.
