Final Fantasy XV Multiplayer Comrades

This is the multiplayer expansion for Final Fantasy XV. Its free if you have the season pass otherwise its $19.99 USD. You will need Playstation Plus to connect to other players, but you can play solo and it will pair you with ai. This dlc expansion does take place a certain time in the game's story so it does have a bit of story.

So far this plays similar to Monster Hunter.  You unlock missions by gathering power which you get from doing missions. Mission vary from hunts, defend, escort, and urgent. There's a power grid that goes throughout the world map and its what you use the power to unlock quests and outposts. As you complete quests you also unlock other quests and the occasional character scenes. I haven't seen much story, but I don't think anything really new should be revealed anyways.

The missions can get challenging and you do grind a bit in order to get enough power to unlock stuff on the grid. The grind isn't too bad though. Unless you're doing it solo like I am the grind is much longer as the ai wouldn't do as much damage or prioritize enemies as much as a real person. It would be easier to clear missions several levels higher with other people than ai. There are ingredients on the map during missions and monsters would drop them. These ingredients will heal you when you get get killed and there will be a 20 second timer till you get up. If you don't have an ingredient you won't be able to get up. You can only hold one ingredient too. After you complete missions, you get to eat a meal and the meal depends on what ingredients you and your party got. The meal will give you buffs that will carry to your next mission. Monica mainly is the one cooking, but there are chances of other characters cooking for you as well. I've only gotten Cid to cook a meal.

You can upgrade your weapons with Cid. Upgrading is different from the main game. Monster parts are used to upgrade your weapons and each level up certain stats and give exp. Each weapon has its their own max level as well. You can also  remodel them to a new weapon with an even higher max level. Some weapons have a bar underneath one or two stats. This bar fills up when you upgrade the weapon that levels those stats up. The bar will glow white when its maxed out. Doing this will give the option to remodel the weapon. I didn't know about this till later when I watched others play this dlc.

Another thing that people could somewhat miss is that you can unlock refugees from the power grid. You need to unlock like three of them around the same area. A pop up message should come out when you're in the outpost saying you can elect a leader. To do this you have to find a group of three people. Once you do you can elect one of them and each gives a unique bonus like discounts or giving you free stuff or a gil. Sometimes you also get a refugee that would unlock a trading post which you can get more weapons or monster parts. You can't change the leader so don't rush this decision! If you choose Treasure, you pick them up at Lestallum at the supply shop. The more refugee treasure leaders you pick, the more treasures you get! Treasures are just monster parts which helps lessens all the farming.

So far this dlc is pretty decent but it isn't finished as one of the outposts is listed but you can't unlock it and you can't get all the sigils yet too. So they will update this multiplayer mode, but no idea at the moment how soon that will be. Also the Gladio, Prompto, and Ignis does make an appearance. There is a final boss and a ending which I find to be an interesting way of making your character a part of the FFXV story.

UPDATE!!! 3/5/2018
A big update has come! This update adds new quests, features, and outposts. One of the new quests is a unique one where you play either Noctis, Prompto, Ignis, or Gladio on their journey from Hammerhead to Insomnia at the end of the main game.

To get to the new outposts, you must get the 7 Royal sigils first to clear that part of the main quest. The quest will then say to develop a new power supply line. Nothing new comes up on the map so you will have to do a quest or two until a black chocobo arrives to Lestalum. Find this chocobo in the city, in the alley way by the powerplant. When you have the chocobo work for the engineers, there will be a new type of route unlocked. This route goes to Cape Caem. This new chocobo feature seem to require using chocobos that have certain stats stats.

The chocobos have a few other things you can do with them. Some quests will have a chocobo icon and you can capture them by beating the quest. Chocobos you have will be at the Hidden Harbor at Cape Caem. You can train them there and even a coliseum for them there.
