Final Fantasy XV Royal Pack

The Royal pack adds a number of new content to Final Fantasy XV. If you get the Windows version or the Royal edition version of the game, it will include this new content as well. The pack is $15 and is about 14 GB big. This pack contains spoilers so please beware of that before you proceed with this post! I will list and explain the contents in detail!

The major content piece is the extended Insomnia map. This is basically an extended Chapter 14 as it adds a few new cutscenes, sub quests, and bosses. The new content is only after you leave Hammerhead and enter Insomnia. Nothing new happens before that. If you've already beaten the game, you will miss out on these cutscenes as they are part of the main story quest, and going back will mark them as completed. So you will have to do chapter select from the title screen to see these new cutscenes. You will start at a different part of the map than where you originally started though the original map is still there. There are two keys that opens gates, one you get from Cor and the other is in the first rest area from the original map. It is by Omega and one of the bases.

There are three sub quests at the Glaives hideout. One is a photo quest, a item collecting quest, and a clearing bases quest with Cor. If you do not finish Cor's quest before heading to the gate in front of the citadel, you will not see the Cor scenes from the trailer. Be sure to save as you may accidentally trigger the boss fight while exploring which has happened to me. The photo one is taking photos of some of the past Lucis royal statues, a wreck, and the statue in the fountain. The statue in the fountain too me too long to figure out because you need the statue and its base. You can't have the edge of the fountain cover the statue so you will need to step closer than the Take Photo prompt is located. The item collecting one is collecting batteries for Cindy. Iris and Cindy do not appear, but they will call you.
Speaking of Cindy, there is a new quest from her if you go back to past Lucis or do the Regalia Type D quest. If you're like me who already has Type D before the Royal pack, you'd have to do it again as there's a mini dungeon to do it plus more. But just doing the quest to change Regalia to Type D is all you need to unlock the quest in Insomnia. HOWEVER, if you're playing through Chapter Select it resets nearly all the quests so you won't have Regalia Type D unlocked. Its better to get the Regalia in Insomnia with you're finished save file that has all the Regalia quests done. Talcott will be at the Glaives hideout and give you a key. It will lead you to a replica Regalia!

The new Cerberus boss replaced the Behemoth boss that's in front of the citadel gate. This boss is somewhat similar to Ifrit. If you have already beaten Chapter 14 before the Royal pack, you cannot find Cerberus because its part of the main story quest. You will have to Chapter Select chapter 14 to be able to fight Cerberus. Omega is found by one of the new branching sides from the beginning of the original map where you use to start out from. This optional boss is difficult, and using Armiger Unleashed would benefit you in this fight. Kings of Yore are inside the Citadel so you must beat Ifrit first. You do not need to clear the photo sub quest for them to appear. Even if you do clear that quest, it doesn't add anything new to these fights.

The Royal vessel you should get automatically if you finished the game. You can dock it at Cape Caem, Galdin Quay, and Altissa. There are lots of photo op quests in the ocean, and the photos are quite cute. You can sort of head to Angelgard island, but a mysterious voice will tell you you can't if you get too close. As for the whales, there is a quest to see them in Maahgo. There's a table by Weskham that should have a quest marker. In the ocean there are fishing quests as well that pop up. These quests seem random as I haven't figured out what really trigger then other than being around the location. I've heard one by Galdin Quay pops up and its a limited time fishing quest as well. It hasn't popped up for me for some reason.

The Armiger Unleashed is found by a statue in the area outside the first dungeon. It is an accessory item that you must equip and it will replace the original armiger. The real difference is that you now have a set of techniques that replaces your allies' techniques. They are very powerful!!
