Spider-man: Far From Home (2019)
Spider-man: Far From Home is the sequel movie to Homecoming starring Tom Holland as Spider-man. Big thing to note is that this movie takes place after Avengers Endgame so it will have big time spoilers for that movie! I do think being caught up to that point in the Avengers movies as well as seeing Homecoming would be ideal before watching this, but I think its a good movie on its own as well. Though some scenes may not be understandable if you haven't seen any of these movies before. Anyways, this movie is entertaining and I enjoyed it! I do like it better than Homecoming and Jake Gyllenhaal is wonderful in this! Definitely recommend it!
More of my thoughts below, but also there will be SPOILERS so don't read further if you don't want to be spoiled!!
When I heard this movie will be taken place after Endgame I was disappointed there wouldn't be anymore Tony and Peter father/son moments. It what I wanted from these MCU movies since Homecoming. But Tony is still a big part of this movie as a huge hole left from his death. I sometimes forget that Peter in like 16 in these movies, but I know he's young and reasonably scared to do the adult suited work of being a superhero. That scene in the jet of Peter making a new suit really got me. Tom did such a good job as Spider-man! Like with the first movie, he is a bit more interested in getting closer to the girl he likes rather than save the world. Which was a bit annoying for me, but he is a teen. The romance going on between aunt May and Happy as well as his friend Ned romance with a female classmate does make the romance between Peter and MJ have less focus.
Since I don't read the comics, I didn't know who Mysterio is. So I wasn't prepared to see him as this villain. In the movie Tony Stark fired him and put down his life's work so he became bitter about it. Getting a team of former Stark employees who felt the same to make him Mysterio and trick Peter to give him Tony's virtual assistant is a rather believable story. Jake did a wonderful job as this character cause all his scenes were a joy for me to watch.
Overall, this does tie things up with Tony Stark for Spider-man and he's together with MJ, so if there is a sequel it would most likely move on to something else. The news lately have said Disney and Sony are in a disagreement over Spider-man so at the moment its hard to tell what will happen. Since the movies are so heavily involved with MCU it be weird for a new movie without them and probably not as good since Disney won't be handling it. Hopefully they sort things out soon.
