Kimetsu no Yaiba / Demon Slayer (2019)
Kimetsu no Yaiba or Demon Slayer is a shounen anime in a world where people can get turned into demons and eat people. Story takes place in Japan during the Taisho Era (1912-1926) and we follow a boy name Kamado Tanjirou who travels with his little sister Nezuko who got turned into a demon. His goal is to find a way to turn her back into a human which involves becoming part of the Demon Slayer Corps. Ufotable is the studio animating this and they did such an excellent job as every episode so far is so well done. There's also a lot of top seiyuus in this and they were on point! For a shounen story, I am impressed with the kind of mature tones this has. It actually made me shed some tears. I definitely recommend this series!!
Some of the demons are starved craved monsters, and others have more of their senses. Its a great mix of demon and human that makes it bittersweet when they get killed. This bittersweetness is something that I love in Natsume Yuujinchou, and this series is like that with the action of a shounen series. The music is also really great. Things so change up once Tanjirou gets teamed up with other demon slayers.
There's lots of praises of this show from people and I do think these praises are well founded. But don't go in with high expectation as it will water down the great moments this show has done so far. One of the things I'm not a fan of is that need to repeat what happened in the last episode. This usually happens in the beginning before the OP starts. Also instead of a preview they make a cute comedy like thing at the end which sort of kills the serious tone the story has been. Its odd.
