Houseki no Kuni (2017)

I started watching Houseki no Kuni (Land of the Lustrous) because there was a lot of nice fanart of it so it got me curious. The story mainly focuses on a group of immortal genderless people called Gems. They take on a human form but they are made out of gems like Diamond. They live on a island alone with a man they call Sensei. There are beings from the moon that they call Lunarians that come attack them so they can harvest them as decorations. This anime also uses mainly the 3D style, but it hasn't been cringey to me so far.

The world in this story is interesting and unique. It centers around the youngest name Phosphophyllite or Phos for short. Phos is pretty fragile and also pretty annoying. She is known to be rather useless and cause trouble for others. She doesn't have a job like the others so it does give her some freedom so she does become the more interesting character to follow compare to the others. The anime can be a bit slow so it may not be for those who are into more action. There are some neat action scenes, and the anime is rather beautiful. They make everyone's hair bright and sparkly. Even though they are genderless and have a rather feminine design and voice, they do used "boku" and even "otouto" and "nii-san" which probably to balance their looks and voices. The design of the moon people when they come to attack is unique. Overall, I do recommend this anime!
