Bloodborne

I'm a year late to post this, but its better than never. Bloodborne is made by the same studio who made Dark Souls, and like Demon Souls it is a Playstation exclusive game. Demon Souls came out years ago and has no PC version so I wouldn't hope Bloodborne to get a PC version either.

Unlike their Dark Souls games which are medieval fantasy types, Bloodborne is set in Victorian time and is more horror than fantasy. H.P Lovecraft horror to be more specific. The Cthulhu looking things, the alien looking things, the thirst for knowledge, the sea, and such are quite like Lovecraft's stories. While the setting may be different, the rest are very much like Dark Souls. The HUD is like the same. Instead of souls its blood echoes. Instead of Estus you get blood vials. While having guns may seem to make these games better, the guns don't do much damage. They are mainly used to do reposte.

The story are what I like the best about these games so I will be talking about it the most. I personally don't think the story is all that different from previous From games. Its always you waking up, and something horrible is happening that is making people turn into monsters. Then the rest of the game is just finding and dealing with the biggest assholes that are at the center of this madness. This video by VaatiVidya does a amazing job of explaining the story, and recommend it unless you don't want spoilers.

The developers did a great job of making things disturbing in this game. The art for some items are very creepy and disturbing. Other than lots of blood, birth is important point to the game's story as well which can make things a bit uncomfortable. What's unique about this game is Insight which is a stat in the game. The more knowledge you get, it increases insight. Having higher insight will reveal new things to the game that wasn't there before, or rather was there but it was invisible to you until you got enough insight to see it. There's also a pun to the word "insight" where eyes become more common in a gross way later on in the game. Its neat and disturbing. The npcs are not that interesting to me, and are easily missed. Their questlines are kind of interesting.

The bosses are more beastly than human compare to Dark Souls. The bosses aren't as memorable to me which is a disappointment. The bosses in its DLC are much better and memorable though so I definitely recommend getting the DLC. The game also has something called chalice dungeons which people don't seem to like much. They are not important to do, but they do have some optional bosses.

This game has great PvE but PvP seems to be not that popular. I do think its worth playing if you're into souls games. The setting is really neat and I do hope they do more horror type games in the future.
