If you have dry, flaky skin or patches do not put makeup over it. No amount of moisturizer, primer, or makeup can cover the flakes. In fact it will make them worse as they will highlight the flakes which looks awful. So skip makeup and use an exfoliation product to remove the dead skin and moisturize your skin regularly. If the flakes are from irritation use a antihistamine creme on the area and moisturize the area to minimize the dryness. Hopefully this will lessen the irritation and redness. I would not advise doing more as you skin might react badly. Using a thicker makeup formula like bb creams or cream foundations might be Ok depending on how dry your skin is.
