Better Call Saul
This is a spin-off of Breaking Bad. While its not as entertaining or as action packed as Breaking Bad, but its great to see more of the side characters. It takes place before Breaking Bad, and at first I thought it was going to be a one season thing but it already getting a 3rd season.
This show is sadly not talked about as much as Breaking Bad. I can see why though. It is a lot slower and as I mentioned before, not as action packed. Each season begins with a vignette of what Saul is doing after Breaking Bad before it jumps back to the past when Saul was named James McGill. So now comes the hard part for me on whether to call him Saul still or Jimmy as he is mostly called in the show. Just to save the confusion, I will continue calling him Saul.
The show is about Saul who is working hard to be a lawyer just like his brother that he is taking care of. His brother is name Charles McGill or Chuck. Chuck is a co-founder of a successful lawfirm called Hamlin Hamlin & McGill or HHM as its mostly called on the show. Chuck somehow developed electromagnetic hypersensitivity that prevents him from working or going outside in general. Everything in his house is turned off and he has to use a cooler to store food and gas lamps for light. Like a good bro, Saul helps him out with his condition however their relationship isn't the best. Then there is Kim Wexler, who is the love interest of Saul and she works at HHM.
The other main character is Mike Ehrmantraut which I am very glad for. While his story is the least interesting, it is more thrilling since he deals with the "bad guys" more than Saul does. He works as a parking lot attendant where he meets and see Saul quite a bit from. It be interesting to see how they got to where they are in Breaking Bad from this.
Overall, I find this show more cleanly written than Breaking Bad. It may not be as exciting, but if you like these side characters than this show is pretty good if you wanted to see more of them. I think it still be enjoyable even if you never seen Breaking Bad before though some things might be confusing.
